Beware, spoilers ahead for Gen V season 2, episode 8! Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, has revealed some exciting news about the next spin-off series following the finale of Gen V season 2. After taking down Thomas Godolkin and escaping from the Supe school, the season ends with Marie and her friends joining Starlight and A-Train to fight against Homelander and Vought as part of a growing resistance.
The season finale sets up the story for the fifth and final season of The Boys. But the universe isn’t stopping there – two spin-off shows are already being planned. One of these is The Boys: Mexico, created by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and produced by Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal. Currently, the series is in the early stages of development.
In a recent interview with Variety, Eric Kripke shared updates on The Boys: Mexico. He confirmed that the series is being written by Dunnet-Alcocer and will be set after the events of season 5 of The Boys. The show is also expected to include appearances by characters from the original series. Here’s what Kripke said:
The project is currently being developed, with writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer working on drafts. It’s very funny, but still going through the development process. The story would take place sometime after the events of Season 5 of ‘The Boys’.
We’re hoping to have some characters from the original show appear in the Mexico spinoff of “The Boys,” but it’s still to be determined.

Though Kripke didn’t reveal many details about The Boys: Mexico, he did confirm it will happen after season 5 of The Boys, marking a new direction for the series. Currently, Gen V is closely connected to The Boys, with shared storylines like the Supe virus and appearances by characters from the original show, such as Sam and Cate.
As a huge fan of The Boys, I’m really excited to hear that the universe will continue with The Boys: Mexico! It sounds like the main show isn’t going to be a total goodbye to some of our favorite characters. The Boys: Mexico will tell a brand new story, but it’ll happen after the events of the original series. That also makes sense of why they’re being so secretive about everything right now – the writer, Dunnet-Alcocer, is still working it all out, and they don’t want to spoil anything!
Alongside a prequel called Vought Rising – which will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash and is set in the 1950s – The Boys: Mexico is a new spinoff series currently being developed. Filming for Vought Rising started in August 2025. Whether or not Gen V gets a third season will depend on how well season 2 performs.
As a big fan of The Boys, I’m really excited about the Mexico spinoff! It sounds like it’ll happen after season 5 of the main show, so I’m expecting some hints or setups in that final season to connect everything. Right now, we don’t really know how the two shows will be linked, other than existing in the same universe, but I’m guessing we’ll learn more as they keep developing the new series. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for clues!
