I’m really excited about the upcoming TV adaptation! It’s going to have a completely fresh cast, which worried some of the long-time fans at first. But honestly, everything I’ve seen so far has been really promising, and I’m especially intrigued by the actress they’ve chosen to play Hermione Granger.
The role of this popular character has been played by many actresses, including Emma Watson in the eight Harry Potter movies and Noma Dumezweni in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. Now, Arabella Stanton will take on the character in HBOās new Harry Potter series, as well as upcoming audiobooks from Audible and Pottermore Publishing. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Stanton showed why sheās perfect for the part.
Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stantonāthe voices of Harry, Ron, and Hermioneādiscussed the new audiobook releases of Harry Potter. Starting November 4th, the first three books will be released monthly, with Stanton uniquely reprising her role from previous recordings.
I found out recently that Stanton is a big Harry Potter fan, just like me! She told me how she got into the series ā her friends were completely obsessed, constantly talking about Harry Potter, and it made her curious. She decided she needed to see what all the fuss was about and started reading the books herself.
She explained that she began reading the first Harry Potter book around age eight and simply continued through the series. She really enjoyed it and still does.
Stanton showed she’s a natural fit for the role of Hermione by expressing a particular fascination with spells. She’s eager to learn how they’re properly cast and loves the way Hermione frequently uses them, saying, “I canāt wait to hear all the spellsā¦ I just love spells!”
Arabella Stanton Has Many Similarities to Hermione Granger
She explained her connection to the popular character by saying sheās always loved reading and writing. While she enjoys learning, she doesnāt necessarily love school itself. She believes that her shared passion for books is the biggest thing she has in common with the character.
Asked about the new version of the project, Stanton jokingly said he wasn’t allowed to reveal much, claiming those in charge had forbidden him from talking about it. However, he did share that filming had just begun and was going well.
Like her character Hermione, the actress also has a strong fascination with magic. She especially loves magical objects from the Harry Potter series, such as the Time Turner and Invisibility Cloak. She explains that these items are appealing because they offer an escape into a fantastical world, something impossible in reality.
She shared that sheād wanted the role since she was a little girl and had always admired the actresses who had played Hermione before her.
Viewers will get their first look at Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger with the upcoming release on November 4th. However, to see her full performance in live-action, theyāll have to wait until the show debuts on HBO Max in 2027.
