The controversial game everyone’s been talking about in 2025 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in just over a month. Previously, many third-party games couldn’t run on the original Switch because it wasn’t powerful enough compared to consoles like the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PCs. With the more powerful Switch 2, games such as Cyberpunk 2077, Star Wars Outlaws, Madden NFL 26, and Street Fighter 6 have been able to come to Nintendo consoles. This trend will continue with another significant, though divisive, game releasing later this year.
As a huge Assassin’s Creed fan, I was so excited to hear that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2! It originally came out earlier this year on other consoles, and now Ubisoft announced it’s finally hitting the Switch 2 on December 2nd. The standard version will be $59.99, and there’s also a premium edition for $99.99 if you want to go all-out. The best part? They’re including cross-progression, so I can pick up right where I left off on my other consoles! This is awesome news.
Should You Play This New Switch 2 Game?

Deciding if Assassin’s Creed Shadows is worth playing isn’t straightforward. Although the game received mostly positive reviews and has a Metacritic score of 81/100, many players were disappointed. Instead of building on the features of games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, some felt Shadows actually went backward and felt repetitive. The game’s setting in Japan, a location fans had long requested, was also seen as underutilized.
Even if some concerns about Assassin’s Creed Shadows still hold true on the Switch 2, it appears the game has been improved to run well on Nintendo’s new console. Ubisoft says Shadows will perform smoothly whether you’re playing handheld or on your TV, and it will even have touch controls for easier menu navigation. If you’re searching for a new open-world game to play on the Switch 2, AC Shadows could be a great choice.
