Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Writer Wants “Character-Driven Stories” and to “Make the Whole World Sad”

The sequel to the popular anime “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,” created by CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger, has been officially announced. Although a release date hasn’t been set yet, it will feature a fresh, independent story that unfolds across ten episodes within Night City.

At an Anime Expo panel, writer Bartosz Sztybor hinted at a potentially sorrowful story without providing details, but assured the audience that it would be emotional due to CD Projekt RED’s focus on character-driven narratives. He also shared a personal sentiment, stating, “As a Polish company and me being from Poland, we are accustomed to sadness in our lives. I simply wanted to make everyone feel the same way.

Regrettably, he isn’t keen on introducing change and crafting an uplifting tale. Instead, he expressed, “Even when I’m sad, a part of me feels content.” Essentially, if you’re anticipating another heart-wrenching story similar to its predecessor, Sztybor is prepared to deliver.

The sequel to “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” will be debuting on Netflix soon, so keep an eye out for more information. Meanwhile, the developers of “Cyberpunk 2077,” CD Projekt RED, are also working on a follow-up called “Project Orion.” They’ve confirmed that the project is in its early stages and job postings suggest it will be a first-person perspective game featuring a highly advanced crowd system for greater realism. However, studio co-CEO Michał Nowakowski predicts that development could take around four to five years.

Looking on the positive side, the initial version is due for an exciting overhaul. Specifics like the launch date are yet to be disclosed, but the creator has assured us that the refresh will resemble the scale of Update 2.2.
