16 and Pregnant alum Whitney Purvis has experienced a series of hardships recently. Most recently, she mourned the loss of her son, Weston, who passed away at 16 years old. Now, the ex-reality TV star finds herself in a complex situation with potential legal consequences. Reports suggest that Purvis is currently under arrest and is being charged with manslaughter. Since her detainment by police, more information about the case has surfaced.
33-year-old ex-MTV personality Whitney Purvis was arrested today, July 7th, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta. The news station revealed that the legal issue originated from an incident back on February 16, 2025. During this time, police found the deceased body of John Mark Harris at Purvis’ residence, who is believed to have passed away due to a drug overdose. Additionally, authorities reportedly discovered drug-related items while they were on the property. At present, Purvis’ representatives have not issued any comments regarding the situation.
It’s common knowledge that Purvis has been indicted for involuntary manslaughter, related to a fatal drug overdose. As stated in the arrest warrant, Purvis is accused of supplying John Mark Harris with drugs, specifically “Tranq,” which law enforcement suspects led to the overdose. This drug appears to be a mix of Fentanyl and Xylazine. The specific details about Purvis’ connection to Harris have not been disclosed.
Whitney Purvis has had encounters with the legal system before, having been arrested three times since 2012. Previously, she was detained for damaging someone’s electronic devices and was also booked for shoplifting a pregnancy test from Walmart. Moreover, in 2024, she faced the wrath of the law for not fulfilling her child support obligations as required.
