The 1980s stood out as the golden age for slasher movies, while the ’90s produced a few notable ones, largely due to Wes Craven’s Scream series. Although the 2000s haven’t received as much acclaim, fans have recently grown fond of some films from this era. While many of the notable slasher flicks from the 2000s are remakes of classic horror movies, one original production has consistently remained a favorite among fans – and now it’s available to stream for free.
The horror-comedy film titled “Hatchet,” directed by Adam Green, was initially released in 2006 and can be considered a humorous take on slasher B-movies. Despite its poor box office performance, it has remained popular on DVD and home media platforms for quite some time. Accessibility to stream this film online has been limited over the years, but that’s no longer the case as it is now available on Tubi. This addition means you can watch “Hatchet” at no cost, provided you don’t mind watching a few advertisements.
In a new twist, the movie titled “Hatchet” takes us on a journey with a bunch of travelers who find themselves stranded during a swamp excursion in New Orleans. However, their misfortune turns into a nightmare as they become the prey for a grotesquely formed maniac who ruthlessly slaughters anyone who dares to trespass his murky domain. The bloodthirsty antagonist, Victor Crowley, is played by Kane Hodder, who was previously known for portraying Jason Voorhees. Additionally, horror icons Robert Englund and Tony Todd make special appearances in this chilling film.
Initially not achieving much success, the story of Hatchet gradually gained traction and ultimately led to a series, with three sequels released from 2010 to 2017.
