Megan Fox Details Feeling “Lost” During Struggle With Early Fame

Megan Fox is getting candid about life as a teen star.

Megan Fox recently discussed starting her career at age 15 with Holiday in the Sun and the downsides of becoming famous in the mid-to-late 2000s.

Megan Fox said she wouldn’t offer her younger self any advice. Speaking at a Q&A event for Jennifer’s Body at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on October 25th, she explained that she was very lost and angry at the way she’d been treated in the entertainment industry, and was struggling with the pressures of fame, as reported by People magazine.

As a mom of four – Noah, Bodhi, Journey, and little Saga – I definitely understand the challenges of navigating public life. I was just remembering this one time a photographer really hounded me, and it was a pretty unpleasant experience. It’s tough balancing motherhood with constantly being in the spotlight, you know?

Oh my god, it breaks my heart even thinking about it. She told me herself how awful the paparazzi were back then – just relentless! They’d yell these horrible things, not just at her, but at any woman. She was literally just trying to get to her car, and they were all snapping pictures and shouting insults. One guy actually screamed at her, calling her names! And another one had the nerve to ask if she thought she was overrated, saying the internet said so! Can you believe it? She was just trying to do her job, and they were treating her like that. It’s just…unacceptable. I feel so protective of her just hearing about it!

As for what was going through her head at the time?  

Megan explained that she attended the premiere while dealing with a lot of difficult emotions – grief, sorrow, and anger. She found it incredibly helpful to have the freedom to express those feelings, even during breaks in filming or throughout the entire event, and described the experience as a release.

The actor channeled personal anger to play the role of Jennifer Check, the body-snatcher in the 2009 film alongside Amanda Seyfried.

I connected with the script immediately. It touched on feelings I had experienced – I felt unfairly targeted during a difficult time in my career and was really struggling with the pressures of being famous, to the point where it was traumatic.

She explained that she strongly connected with the character’s vulnerability before her transformation, seeing her as a young woman exploited for others’ benefit. She felt this connection personally, as she saw parallels to her own experiences entering the entertainment industry.

As Megan reflected on the past, she also shared a sweet update about life at home with her baby girl – it was lovely to hear how things are going for her personally!

She started by playfully explaining to the audience that she was still recovering from having a baby and was experiencing some memory issues. “I haven’t gotten much sleep in seven months,” she said, “so please feel free to interrupt if I start to ramble or repeat myself.”

Megan is dedicated to co-parenting, but she admits it’s challenging. In a 2022 interview with Glamour UK, she shared that she often struggles with feeling like she needs to be with her children constantly and worries about not being a good enough parent. She also acknowledged the difficulty of only having them half the time due to being separated from their father, accepting that’s simply the reality of the situation.

Brian has a blended family that includes his adult son, Kassius, from his previous relationship with Vanessa Marcil. In December 2023, the actor shared a holiday photo with his partner, Sharna, and all five of his children.

Being a mother helps Megan stay centered and connected to what truly matters. In a 2023 interview with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, she explained that motherhood reminds her of how deeply and consistently present she has always been. She also shared that she sees her own parenting reflected in her children’s actions and personalities.

In 2022, the actress known for Jennifer’s Body shared a seldom-seen photo with the singer of “Emo Girl” and his daughter. The picture was taken at his coffee shop, 27 Club Coffee, in Ohio.

The popular musician now relies on his daughter for feedback about his songs. He told Kelly Clarkson in 2021 that he values her opinion more than his own, explaining she has a good sense of what’s currently popular and can tell him if a song is working well.

Brian shared a heartfelt Mother’s Day message for Sharna on Instagram, calling her an amazing mother and fiancée and expressing his family’s deep love for her.

Megan intentionally keeps her children off social media for a significant reason. She explained to Glamour UK in 2022 that she wanted to protect them from online exposure from a young age. While she feels they’ve been successful in shielding the kids and preserving their innocence so far, she acknowledges that complete protection won’t always be possible.

Brian believes the key to successful co-parenting is choosing when to argue. He explained to TopMob News in 2024 that separation will inevitably impact children. “You can’t prevent the kids from being affected,” he said, “but you can control how it affects them.”

Megan avoids saying negative things about her children’s father when she’s with them. As she explained on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2023, she believes that disapproving of their father would be like rejecting a part of her own children, since he’s an important part of who they are.

Brian shared a photo on Instagram of his kids enjoying a sunny day in Malibu, writing, “Great day!!”

Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) has said his daughter played a key role in his journey to sobriety. He shared on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast that she noticed when he was using drugs, and that conversation was a turning point for him. MGK, who has been sober since August 2023, explained that he wants to be a better father than his own, and getting sober is about ending a pattern for his daughter.

Sharna has expressed her gratitude to Brian’s children for giving her a ‘trial run’ at motherhood. Speaking on the Quite Frankly podcast in 2023, she explained that being around them allowed her to learn and grow as a potential parent. She realized she had a natural ability and felt confident she could be a good mom.

In 2020, Brian appeared as a contestant on the show The Masked Singer. He shared on Instagram that he was really looking forward to watching it with his kids, but unfortunately, they fell asleep after just 15 minutes.

No job is too big for the TV star and his mini-mes.

Brian had a vasectomy about two months after their son Zane was born, but he could potentially reverse the procedure later. Sharna mentioned on the Oldish podcast in January that they would consider it if they had the room and resources. However, with four young children, their lives are already very full.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly had a baby girl on March 27, 2025, adding to their family. The rocker even wrote an original song for her arrival, with help from friends like Travis Barker.

“She’s finally here,” MGK exclaimed in a post on Instagram, “our little celestial seed.”

In April 2025, Brian and Sharna had a fun time with Zion, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, sharing both desserts and laughter.

Machine Gun Kelly recently spent some special time with his daughter Casie, just after he and Megan Fox welcomed their new baby girl.
