You can now call him Sir David Beckham.
The former England soccer captain has fulfilled a major goal: receiving a knighthood.
David, age 50, received a knighthood from King Charles III on November 4th in recognition of his work with sports and charities.
David admitted he was very upset when he first learned the news, and continued to feel that way for months. Speaking to reporters after the event at Windsor Castle, as reported by Sky Sports, he explained that the past week had been deeply moving. Returning to London and preparing for the day hadn’t caused him stress or anxiety, just a lot of emotion.
David, along with his wife Victoria Beckham and parents Ted and Sandra, explained that his emotional reaction came from his mother. He believes it’s due to the significance of the occasion and how special it is for the whole family.
The athlete, who has four children – Brooklyn (29), Romeo (23), Cruz (20), and Harper (14) – with Victoria, also made a playful comment about the new titles his family can use for him.
He clarified he wasn’t demanding anything. While he wouldn’t object if people chose to call him ‘Sir Dad’ or ‘Sir Son,’ he didn’t expect them to. He admitted it would take some time to get used to being addressed that way, but ultimately called it a great honor.

David Beckham isn’t the only one with a new title – his wife, Victoria, is now known as Lady Beckham.
I’ve been a huge fan of David Beckham for years, and it was wonderful to see him finally knighted! It’s been over 20 years since Queen Elizabeth II first recognized his incredible contribution to football with an OBE back in 2003. It’s amazing to think about his whole career – playing for giants like Real Madrid, the LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain – before he retired in 2013. This knighthood felt like the perfect way to celebrate everything he’s achieved.
As David noted, he would have happily waited any amount of time to receive a knighthood.
He replied with a smile, “I’m truly honored and very proud to receive this special recognition.”
David explained that he came from a very modest background in East London and always dreamed of being a professional soccer player. To now be at Windsor Castle, receiving a knighthood from the monarchy, is beyond anything he could have imagined – it’s the highest honor.
As David and Victoria celebrate their new titles, look back at their relationship over the years…

David Beckham and Victoria Adams announced their engagement in January 1998, after dating for just a few months.

In the summer of 1999, a famous Manchester United soccer player married a member of the Spice Girls in a castle near Dublin. They sold exclusive photos of their wedding to OK! Magazine for a private amount, but they often share memories from their special day on their anniversary.

Victoria and her partner had an instant connection when they first met. “It was truly love at first sight,” she told Elle. “He was so smitten, he said he wrote my number down all over the place so he wouldn’t lose it.”

He’s a globally recognized soccer star, and she’s a former Spice Girl who’s also a successful fashion designer. As a couple, they consistently attract a lot of media attention, like when they attended the 2008 ESPY Awards.

The couple shares four children together: Brooklyn, Harper, Romeo and Cruz Beckham.
Even with their children growing up in the spotlight, their parents always made time for family activities, like attending the opening night of the Spice Girls musical Viva Forever in December 2012.

Even with their demanding jobs, this couple prioritizes spending quality time together. A memorable example is the 2014 Met Gala, where they both wore matching white outfits.

In July 2017, David celebrated his 18th wedding anniversary by publicly praising his wife as a wonderful partner, mother, and successful businesswoman.

Victoria and David Beckham regularly celebrate both big and small moments, sharing their joy with fans online and in their personal lives. In January 2018, the couple demonstrated their stylish side at a Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.

Everyone was focused on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018, but two other celebrity guests also stood out and caught people’s attention.

It’s been wonderful watching the Beckham children grow up over the years. A memorable moment was seeing Brooklyn, dressed in a coordinated tailored suit with his parents, at the 2019 GQ Men of the Year Awards.

Victoria Beckham is famous for her stylish and glamorous fashion choices. In 2022, she showcased her collection at Paris Fashion Week with her entire family in attendance, including her daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz Beckham.
