Usually, readers of Push Square aren’t thrilled with the free PlayStation Plus Essential games each month. However, October 2025 was different! A recent poll showed that about 65% of you were actually pleased with the lineup, especially since it included Alan Wake 2.
However, that positive feeling hasn’t extended to the games coming in November 2025, including Stray, EA Sports WRC 24, and Totally Accurate Battle Simulator.
Our recent poll of nearly 3,500 members revealed that 62% are disappointed with the current selection. Almost 40% of those respondents went further, calling the lineup poor.
Surprisingly, when asked about the upcoming games, a large majority – 53% – said they weren’t excited about any of them. This is even though games like Stray and EA Sports WRC 24 have gotten generally positive reviews, scoring 83 and 80 on Metacritic, respectively.
Actually, even though some people have been critical, the games offered with PS Plus Essential have been consistently good recently. The selection for September 2025 was particularly strong – statistically the best it’s been in the last four years.
Push Square readers, perhaps predictably, also unanimously declared that a “crap” month too.
Ultimately, it mostly depends on what people like. Most gamers tend to prefer popular, new, and high-budget games over smaller, independent titles, even if those indie games have mixed reviews.
Since Stray was already included with the PS Plus Extra subscription, we’re not particularly excited about this month’s offerings. However, we still believe the basic PS Plus Essential subscription provides good value.
