All’s fair when it comes to questions about Kim Kardashian‘scontroversial 2022 Met Gala look.
The reality star is clarifying that she didn’t damage Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress. The dress, designed by Bob Mackie for Jean Louis and worth $5 million, is famous for being worn by Monroe when she sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy in 1962. She was responding to claims that she damaged the gown while attempting to wear it.
Kim told Vogue that wearing the dress was difficult, but she was determined to make it work. This led to rumors that she had damaged it. However, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!, the dress’s owner, confirmed that she didn’t damage the garment while wearing it to the Met Gala.
More details are emerging about the dress situation, even three years later. After a lie detector test with Teyana Taylor, it seems Kim wasn’t entirely truthful. While Kim denied damaging the dress during the test, her reaction afterward suggested that something did happen.
Teyana wondered if the item had been damaged in transit, but Kim responded in a recent Vanity Fair interview, saying she doesn’t know how it arrived, but it’s now in perfect condition.
Teyana wondered if Kim had some touch-ups done after the Met Gala, asking who had fixed something. Kim didn’t say anything, though.

Regarding the polygraph results from their discussion, the administrator confirmed that everything they said was truthful.
It’s possible Kim’s initial claim that she didn’t damage the dress wasn’t entirely truthful. Even if her reaction wasn’t a clear giveaway, her response of “Maybe” when asked if she’d ever lied during the interview suggests she might not have been honest from the start.
