Why Jennifer Lawrence Doesn’t Mind Filming Nude Scenes

Jennifer Lawrence can see the silver lining when it comes to the more revealing parts of her job.

Jennifer Lawrence, known for her role in The Hunger Games, recently explained she’s comfortable with nude scenes in her films, including her new movie Die My Love. She stated she doesn’t feel self-conscious about appearing nude on screen.

During a movie screening, Jennifer explained in a video shared by Vulture on TikTok November 3rd that she had no issues with nudity in the film. She wanted director Lynne Ramsay to have complete artistic control.

The 35-year-old, who has a 3-year-old son named Cy and a new baby with her husband, Cooke Maroney, explained that being pregnant during filming helped her overcome her worries about how she looked. This experience was different from filming a nude scene in the 2023 movie No Hard Feelings.

Jennifer recalled being on a strict diet, avoiding carbs and exercising a lot before filming No Hard Feelings. But then she found out she was pregnant. “I couldn’t keep dieting!” she explained. “I was working incredibly long hours – fifteen a day – and I was just exhausted.”

The Academy Award-winning actress said it was incredibly liberating to not worry about how she looked while filming the movie with Robert Pattinson.

She remembered being sent a close-up photo of her cellulite and being asked if she wanted it retouched. She responded, ‘No, that’s just my butt.’

Jennifer Lopez is now comfortable with nudity, but she felt very differently before filming her 2018 thriller, Red Sparrow, which included her first nude scene.

Jennifer Lawrence admitted she was very uncomfortable filming Red Sparrow because it required her to perform nude scenes. She initially attempted to avoid nudity in the role, but ultimately decided it wasn’t authentic to the character’s experience if she wasn’t willing to do the same.

Jennifer, who had her private nude photos hacked and publicly shared back in 2014, described her decision to share them herself as empowering, saying it felt like regaining control: “I got something back that was taken from me.”

Plus, her Red Sparrow director Francis Lawrence helped make the process feel “normal.”

She described making eye contact with him and realizing he treated her with respect, as if she were fully dressed and in a professional setting. That single look immediately put her at ease and helped her feel comfortable at work, not exposed or vulnerable.
