Kayla Nicole is setting the record straight.
The sports reporter explained the story behind her Halloween costume – she dressed as Toni Braxton from the ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’ music video. Many people thought the costume was a dig at her ex, Travis Kelce, and his partner, Taylor Swift, but she clarified that wasn’t the reason.
Oh my gosh, Kayla was talking about her childhood best friend, Taylor, on her podcast, The Pre-Game With Kayla Nicole, and it was SO sweet! She said Taylor’s house was literally the only place her mom let her go as a kid. Apparently, Taylor’s mom was just… different, you know? She wasn’t like the other parents, and Kayla felt safe going over there. It just shows how important Taylor was to her growing up!
One day, a 34-year-old woman was surprised to find out her friend also loved Toni’s song “He Wasn’t Man Enough” while they were driving home from school together.
Kayla explained that her mom was playing the song very loudly, and it suddenly occurred to her, ‘Wow, white people listen to music by Black artists too.’
Kayla revealed her Halloween costume on Instagram on October 31st with a video of her dancing to “He Wasn’t Man Enough.” She wore a revealing outfit consisting of a sheer chain-metal mini dress over a silver bikini.
In a video clip, she appeared to ask, “Did you know about us back then? And did you know I was the one who ended things with your husband?” She went on to say she wasn’t thinking about him anymore, but pointed out you had married him. She then claimed she was the reason he left, that he had pleaded with her to let him stay, and that he simply wasn’t strong enough for her.

The model also caused a stir last month when she posted a puzzling message right after Taylor Swift released “Opallite.” Many people thought the post was a subtle jab at Kayla’s previous relationship with Travis.
Following reports circulating online, Kayla shared a clip on her Instagram Stories from a 2005 episode of America’s Top Model. The clip featured host Tyra Banks asking eventual winner Eva Marcille how she measured up to the other contestants. Eva responded by saying she didn’t compare herself to others, stating, “I’m no comparison to anyone else.”

Captioning the video, Kayla wrote simply, “A very Toni Halloween.”
After seeing her costume, many people on social media speculated that the podcast host—who had an on-again, off-again relationship with Travis from 2017 to 2022—was subtly criticizing him and Taylor, who got engaged in August.
Okay, let’s talk about taking the high road… or maybe not! I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz online about a particular situation, and honestly, the reactions are amazing. People are calling it a seriously bold move – one person even said it was a total power play! It’s that feeling of turning the tables and getting the last laugh, and honestly, who doesn’t love a little bit of that? It’s all about reclaiming your narrative and owning the moment, and people are definitely recognizing that strength.
