As production begins for the third season of the hit Netflix show One Piece, Xolo Maridueña has been cast in an important role.

Maridueña will play Portgas D. Ace, a fan-favorite character who is revealed to be Luffy’s brother.
Xolo Maridueña is famous for his role as Miguel Diaz in the Netflix series Cobra Kai. In 2023, he played the superhero Jamie Reyes in the movie Blue Beetle, which is based on the DC Comics character. This casting follows the announcement that Cole Escola will join season 3 as the assassin Bon Clay.
One Piece is a new Netflix series based on the incredibly popular manga by Eiichiro Oda. It’s a collaboration between Netflix, Tomorrow Studios, and Shueisha, the original publisher of the manga.
The Netflix series centers around Monkey D. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hats, as they journey to find the ultimate treasure, the One Piece, and Luffy’s dream of becoming the Pirate King. The series stars Monkey D. Luffy, along with Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.
Netflix’s One Piece Season 1 launched in August 2023 and quickly became popular. It was the most-watched TV show on Netflix during the latter half of the year, leading the streamer to order a second season.
One Piece Season 2, also known as One Piece: Into the Grand Line, arrives on March 10, 2026.
The Straw Hat Pirates, led by Luffy, are embarking on a voyage to the Grand Line, a famous and dangerous sea full of both adventure and peril. Their quest for the ultimate treasure will lead them to strange islands and challenging new foes, according to the season 2 description.
One Piece Season 3 starts production later this year in Cape Town, South Africa.
