More than two months after proposing to his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez, the soccer player revealed she was the inspiration behind her stunning diamond ring.

Cristiano, 40, recently revealed on Piers Morgan’s Uncensored podcast that he always planned to propose to Georgina, but wasn’t sure how. He explained that Georgina, 31, had actually asked him for a ring, as she’s always dreamed of having a beautiful diamond. He worked hard to find the perfect one, and was thrilled when she loved it. Georgina, who shares twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 8, Alana, 7, Bella, 3, and late son Angel with Cristiano, has proudly shown off the stunning oval-shaped jewel since their engagement, even displaying it during a trip to New York on September 11th. While Cristiano was sure she’d adore the ring, he noted that she was even more touched by the proposal itself.

In an interview, Ronaldo revealed that his partner wasn’t interested in the ring itself. She was more concerned with his sincerity. She directly asked him if he was being truthful, saying, ‘Are you honest?’ He responded by telling her he was honest and that he loved her and wanted to marry her, but she initially doubted him.

Cristiano Ronaldo planned to propose in August by having a friend hold onto the ring after he bought it. He wanted to ask the question after dinner, and since he’s also a father to his 15-year-old son, Cristiano Jr., he needed a safe place to keep it beforehand.

I remember it was around 1 a.m., and my daughters were asleep. A friend had given me the ring to propose to my girlfriend, Gio. As I was about to give it to her, our daughters walked in and excitedly said, ‘Daddy, you’re going to give the ring to Mommy and ask her to marry you!’ That’s when I realized it was the perfect time to do it.

In fact, timing was an important factor to the footballer when making this special decision. 

Cristiano Ronaldo shared that he believes everything happens when it’s meant to. He knew the time was right to propose to his partner, explaining, ‘I’m going to propose because it feels like the perfect moment.’ He emphasized that she’s not just the mother of his children, but the person he loves most – the love of his life.
