Embark Studios’ new game, Arc Raiders, is quickly becoming a hit and could be a contender for Game of the Year in 2025. Since launching last week, it’s attracted a large number of players. Although official sales figures aren’t available yet, Arc Raiders is currently the best-selling game on Steam and ranks fourth in terms of player count on PC. Beyond its strong start, the game is also receiving positive reviews, suggesting it could be in the running for major awards.
The game Arc Raiders is receiving very positive reviews and currently has one of the highest average scores of any game released this year, according to the review site OpenCritic. With scores still coming in, it currently averages 93/100 based on over 20 critic reviews. This score is higher than those of popular games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Split Fiction, Blue Prince, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Currently, only Hades II with a score of 94/100, has a higher average review score than Arc Raiders.

More reviews for Arc Raiders are still coming out, including ours here at ComicBook. Because of this, the game’s current positive scores on OpenCritic and Metacritic could change – they might go down slightly, or they could actually improve even more.
Okay, so I’ve been following Arc Raiders closely, and honestly, I think it’s shaping up to be a top contender for one of the best games of 2025. I’m already predicting it’ll get nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards in December – it’s happening on the 11th, by the way. It’s tough to say if it can actually win with games like Expedition 33 and Hades II looking so strong – those two are almost guaranteed nominations too, it seems. But this year’s awards are already looking super competitive, and Arc Raiders becoming a serious contender this late in the year just throws another wrench into things. It’s gonna be a tough fight!
You can now play Arc Raiders on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
