Viewers recently learned that Becky, who was believed to be dead, is actually alive and well. She reappeared in September and told her wife, Lisa (Vicky Myers), that she’d been living in Spain under an assumed name after getting into trouble at her job.
Costello rescued her and went to great lengths to cover her tracks, even using the identity of a hit-and-run victim named Tia Wardley as a disguise for Becky. He paid someone to pretend to be Tia when Lisa and her fiancée, Carla Connor, started investigating.
With Becky’s return, Costello’s job is in serious danger. If the truth about the corruption is revealed, his career could be ruined.
Tonight on the show, Lisa is determined to regain control and get rid of Carla. She pretends someone is harassing her, hoping to move in with the others at number 6 for protection.

Carla wasn’t happy about having her romantic competitor staying at her house, and Costello was angry to learn that Becky hadn’t taken the flight to Spain he’d paid for.
He met her in a back alley and threatened her, saying she’d suffer the same fate as Tia Wardley if she didn’t do what he wanted – meaning he’d have her killed.
But will he follow through with the act?
“I’ll leave that for the people to decide,” Broni explained.
He’s claimed he’s willing to do whatever it takes, and considering he has a family – a wife and daughter – he’d definitely protect them, even if it meant harming someone else. But the question is, is simply threatening to do it enough to achieve his goals?
He chuckled, saying he’d never really played a truly villainous role quite like the one Costello has, but he’d always suspected he had a darker side waiting to be explored. He was confident he was capable of it.
I really enjoyed playing Costello. What I found fascinating was that he wasn’t your typical, mustache-twirling bad guy. It wasn’t about grand schemes, but more about subtle threats and getting inside people’s heads. Exploring that psychological side of him as an actor was a really interesting challenge.

Becky unexpectedly responded to Costello by asking about his daughter, Lacey, who is twelve years old. This was a clear hint that she might do anything to remain in Manchester. After the conversation, she went home and thoroughly checked Lacey’s social media accounts.
Would Becky really seek out Lacey?
You know, the moment Becky involved Costello’s daughter, everything shifted for him. It wasn’t just about the case anymore – suddenly, his family was potentially in danger, and that really changed things, according to Broni.
This gives him a strong motivation to follow through, despite the significant danger, which he fully understands. Protecting his family is his top priority.
It’s remarkable that this detective is expressing himself this way, and even more surprising to hear his comments and opinions.
“He’s in a position of authority in the community and it’s interesting to play that dynamic.”
