The newest Demon Slayer movie addresses a long-standing issue with the character Inosuke, though some fans feel it may not be enough. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is a huge success, having earned $670 million globally and still playing in cinemas. As the first of three films adapting the manga’s Final Battle arc, Infinity Castle picks up after the Demon Slayer Corps is trapped within Muzan Kibutsuji’s dimension following the Hashira Training arc.
The latest Demon Slayer movie ends with Tanjiro and Giyu winning their fight against Upper Rank Three, but the story isn’t over yet. The most powerful demons, Upper Rank Two and Upper Rank One, are still out there. The next movie will likely feature a battle against both of them. Fans of the original manga already have some idea of what to expect, and know there’s much more exciting action to come. The story will also explore a new side of Inosuke, potentially resolving a long-standing issue in both the manga and anime.
Demon Slayer’s Next Movie Will Finally Give Inosuke Much-Needed Emotional Depth

Inosuke is a popular character in Demon Slayer, known for his energetic and often explosive personality. He consistently brings a lot of energy to every scene and frequently provides comic relief, even during tense moments, making him a joy to watch. However, Inosuke doesn’t often reveal his softer side, which can make it hard to fully connect with him. While his bond with Tanjiro is heartwarming, it isn’t quite enough to give him the depth some viewers might expect.
Warning: SPOILERS below for the end of the Demon Slayer manga.
Inosuke has often felt like a one-dimensional character, but that’s expected to change in the upcoming arc of Infinity Castle. If the anime stays true to the manga – which it has consistently done – the next chapter will focus on Inosuke and Kanao battling Doma, also known as Upper Rank Two. During this fight, Inosuke will discover that Doma is the demon who killed his mother. He’ll learn the truth about his past, realizing that he did have a mother who bravely fought to protect him, despite his previous belief that she had abandoned him or didn’t exist.
These discoveries reveal a more sensitive side of Inosuke, letting him show a broader range of feelings as he deals with his sadness. It’s refreshing to see, as he doesn’t often express himself this way. Shinobu’s death highlights how much Inosuke truly cares for those around him, despite his tough exterior. This added depth makes him an even more compelling character, though it’s a little disappointing it comes so late in the series.
The Anime’s Upcoming Inosuke Fix Is Better Late Than Never

Inosuke is usually portrayed as the funny character—the final arc of Infinity Castle shows him excitedly asking his crow to find the strongest demon—so it’s nice to see him treated with more seriousness. Although the anime sometimes puts him in dangerous situations, he doesn’t often show genuine emotion. Instead, his bravery and competitive spirit are usually highlighted, making him seem unfazed by the constant threats in the series.
Inosuke is a fun character, but his personality makes it hard to truly understand him. We easily connect with Tanjiro’s kindness and Zenitsu’s fears, but Inosuke feels distant until we see a softer side of him. While this doesn’t happen soon enough to improve the whole anime, it’s good that it happens before the story ends. Showing his vulnerability will make viewers much more concerned about what happens to him during the final fight.
Demon Slayer’s Worst Inosuke Problem Is Part Of A Bigger Character Trend

Inosuke from Demon Slayer exemplifies a common issue with the show’s characters: they can be a bit one-dimensional. While the main characters aren’t badly written, they’re usually defined by only a few core personality traits. This makes their actions feel predictable – Tanjiro will almost always be kind and understanding, even towards villains, and Zenitsu will consistently react with fear and exaggeration when threatened.
It’s really rewarding when characters surprise us by acting differently, and we’ll see that with Inosuke in the next Demon Slayer movie. While these moments don’t happen frequently, and we might want them to, their rarity makes them even more impactful. Inosuke isn’t the only one who will make the upcoming fight with Doma emotionally powerful – fans might want to bring tissues!
