Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders has quickly become a popular and commercially successful game. The studio, working with Nexon, announced that over four million copies of the extraction shooter have been sold since its release on October 30th.
Even though initial estimates predicted around 2.5 million sales in its first week, the game’s performance is really remarkable. While it didn’t reach the levels of Battlefield 6, which sold over seven million copies in just three days, it’s incredibly rare for a brand new game in a specialized multiplayer genre to do this well. The fact that it briefly became more popular than EA’s game on Steam and attracted over 700,000 players this weekend is a significant achievement.
Embark continues to build on its success with games like THE FINALS, which is doing well despite a few initial challenges. For ARC Raiders, the developers are focusing on the ongoing experience, with plenty of new content planned. A new map, Stella Montis, will be released later this month, and players will face off against new ARC machines, including the Matriarch and Shredder.
In December, a new map condition called Snowfall will arrive, along with an event and a fresh set of Raider Decks. We’ll have a full review coming soon, so keep an eye out!
