Viewers eager for more from Legendary’s MonsterVerse have been wondering when season two of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters would arrive, especially after seeing hints and behind-the-scenes glimpses. Now we have an answer! Legendary has announced the premiere date for the new season, and revealed a major Titan will be a central character. MonsterVerse fans have a lot to look forward to!
Legendary announced today that the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere on Apple TV+ on February 27th, with a total of 10 episodes. Season 2 will feature many familiar monsters, but King Kong is expected to play a particularly important role. He’s prominently featured in the new trailer, which you can watch below.
The next MonsterVerse film will bring back not just Kong, but several other giant creatures, or Kaiju, who will cause trouble for humans. Surprisingly, Kurt Russell’s character, Officer Lee Shaw, will also return. Despite seemingly dying in the first season’s finale while in Hollow Earth, he survived and will be featured in the new season.

The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will continue the story after the events of season one. The first season ended with the Monarch team returning to Earth from Hollow Earth, only to discover they had landed on Skull Island – the home of Kong. Although a second season wasn’t initially confirmed, fans can now expect Kong to play a major role in the new episodes.
The first season largely revolved around Godzilla, but Kong will be a major focus in the upcoming season. The trailer reveals a host of other monsters as well, something Wyatt Russell hinted at when he said the new season would significantly increase the scale of the creatures involved – and the trailer footage definitely confirms he was right.
Russell spoke with Collider about Season 2 of Monarch, explaining that they were able to build on ideas introduced in the first season. While he’s limited in what he can reveal, he did say the central mystery becomes more complex and new, exciting monsters are introduced. The creators aimed to raise the stakes, particularly in the characters’ relationships, and explore those connections more deeply.
The second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will feature returning stars Wyatt Russell, Kurt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Anders Holm, Mari Yamamoto, and Joe Tippett. It’s scheduled to premiere on February 27, 2026.
