The story of Ed and Lorraine Warren recently concluded in theaters with the release of The Conjuring: Last Rites. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprised their roles as the Warrens for the fourth and final time, bringing their decade-long journey of paranormal investigations – which began with James Wan’s acclaimed horror film The Conjuring in 2013 – to an end. Having earned close to $500 million in theaters, The Conjuring: Last Rites will soon be available to stream on HBO Max, and it’s arriving much sooner than expected.
HBO Max revealed on Friday that The Conjuring: Last Rites will start streaming on November 21st, which is just a week away. While it wasn’t available for Halloween, fans won’t have to wait much longer to watch it.
I’m so excited! After being released online, Last Rites is finally coming to HBO on Saturday, November 22nd! It’s going to air at the end of a huge Conjuring Universe marathon – they’re showing a bunch of the best movies from the series all day. Here’s when you can tune in:
Here’s the schedule of horror movies:
7:35 a.m. ET: The Nun
9:15 a.m. ET: The Nun II
11:08 a.m. ET: Annabelle
12:50 p.m. ET: Annabelle: Creation
2:43 p.m. ET: The Conjuring
4:38 p.m. ET: The Conjuring 2
8:00 p.m. ET: The Conjuring: Last Rites
You can now watch all the movies in The Conjuring Universe on HBO Max, except for The Conjuring: Last Rites. But that will be fixed next week when it’s added, too.
What’s Next for the Conjuring Universe?
Though The Conjuring: Last Rites concludes the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren, and appears to be Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s last involvement, the movie’s strong performance in theaters suggests the Conjuring universe will continue with future installments.
Warner Bros. is planning to create a prequel that tells the story of how Ed and Lorraine Warren began their careers as paranormal investigators. The film will focus on their early years and is currently in development with director Rodrique Huart potentially at the helm. The script is being written by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, who have previously worked on the Conjuring films.
With the Conjuring Universe earning over $2.7 billion worldwide, it’s no surprise the franchise will continue after the upcoming film, Last Rites. Thankfully, the studio plans to conclude the story of Ed and Lorraine Warren with Last Rites, and future installments will focus on the earlier events of the universe.
