Everyone anticipated Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle would be a hit, but it exceeded all expectations. It quickly outperformed the box office numbers of Mugen Train and is now projected to earn over a billion dollars, firmly establishing Demon Slayer as a major cultural phenomenon, even for those unfamiliar with anime.
The main reason Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been so popular is that, like Mugen Train before it, it’s an official part of the main story – it’s more than just a standalone anime movie. This approach has become more common lately, and there are definitely other story arcs from the manga that could work well as similar films.
10) Monster World Arc (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

The “Monster World” arc is the third big story in Kazuki Takahashi’s Yu-Gi-Oh!. Yugi and his friends go to visit their new friend, Ryo Bakura, to play the board game Monster World. However, things become dangerous when it’s revealed that Bakura possesses a Millennium Item with a sinister spirit intent on harming them.
Although the Monster World storyline was left out of the second anime series, it had a really interesting concept and first introduced the character Bakura. Adapting it into a movie could be a great way to address some issues with the anime and also excite fans who enjoyed the original stories, potentially making it very successful.
9) Goddess’ Monument Arc (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)

The ‘Goddess’ Monument’ is the eighth big story arc in the manga Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. It begins when Frieren discovers a monument to the Goddess, which unexpectedly sends her back in time to when she traveled with Himmel and his team. Now, they must figure out how to return Frieren to her own time without accidentally altering the future.
The Goddess’s Monument story arc, which centers on Frieren and her companions, has the potential to be a deeply moving and visually stunning experience, especially with animation quality similar to the anime. A second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End could easily accommodate this arc, but a standalone movie would also be fantastic.
8) Taro Sakamoto’s Past Arc (Sakamoto Days)

The ‘Taro Sakamoto’s Past’ arc is the sixth big story arc in Yuto Suzuki’s manga, Sakamoto Days. As the fight with Slur gets more intense, Shin challenges Sakamoto about his unwillingness to accept help from others. This leads to a flashback revealing Sakamoto, Nagumo, and Slur as students, along with Rion Akao, and the event that started everything.
While Sakamoto Days is consistently an enjoyable action series, many fans consider the story arc focusing on Sakamoto’s past to be its strongest point, particularly for its exciting action sequences and excellent character development. This arc is frequently compared to the popular Hidden Inventory arc from Jujutsu Kaisen, which was recently adapted into a movie, leading many to believe a similar movie adaptation would be successful for Sakamoto Days.
7) Space Globalists Arc, Part 2 (Dandadan)

The ‘Space Globalists’ arc is the seventh big story in Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga, Dandadan. It begins with the appearance of a strange being named Vamola, and quickly escalates into an alien invasion. After a major setback early on, the characters must train hard to prepare for the aliens’ full-scale attack.
The ‘Space Globalists’ storyline is the longest in Dandadan, and splitting it into a movie for the second half would improve the story’s flow. A movie would also be a great way to showcase the exciting action and heartfelt moments, particularly Vamola’s history. While season 3 of Dandadan could potentially cover the entire arc, a movie feels crucial to the series’ success.
6) Second Yoshioka Arc (Vagabond)

The Second Yoshioka arc is the second story arc in Takehiko Inoue’s Vagabond that focuses on the Yoshioka school. Musashi has returned to Kyoto to fight Denshichiro Yoshioka as promised, but he’s grown so much stronger, both physically and mentally, that their fight quickly becomes more than just a one-on-one duel.
The Second Yoshioka arc in Vagabond is arguably the series’ strongest point, brilliantly resolving a long-running storyline, showcasing Musashi’s impressive development, and culminating in an exciting battle against the Yoshioka school. Despite Vagabond never being adapted into an anime, this arc is self-contained enough to work perfectly as a standalone film, and would make a truly amazing movie.
5) Purple Haze Feedback (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

I’m so excited about Purple Haze Feedback! It’s a continuation of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure story, and it’s written by Kouhei Kadano, who you might know as the creator of Boogiepop. The story picks up six months after Giorno beat Diavolo, and it focuses on Fugo, who feels terrible for not joining the fight against Diavolo sooner. Now, he’s looking for a way to make things right, and he gets a chance when he’s tasked with taking down Passione’s drug operation. It’s a really compelling way to explore what happens after the main story!
Kouhei Kadano clearly gets what makes JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure so exciting, and Purple Haze Feedback delivers on that with fantastic action and a moving story for Fugo. It’s a strong conclusion to Golden Wind and a well-regarded story that many fans consider official canon. It would also make a perfect feature film for the series.
4) Can’t Fear Your Own World (Bleach)

Following the Thousand-Year Blood War, a new threat emerges in Bleach: Can’t Fear Your Own World. This Bleach sequel, penned by Ryogo Narita (known for Baccano!), centers on Shuhei Hisagi from Squad 9, who may hold the key to saving the Three Realms from destruction.
With its satisfying conclusions and excellent character and world-building, Can’t Fear Your Own World delivers everything fans could hope for in a Bleach sequel. Since the Thousand-Year Blood War anime has already hinted at this story arc, a movie trilogy would be the ideal format for an adaptation.
3) Bastard Munchen Vs. PXG (Blue Lock)

The match between Bastard Munchen and PXG concluded the Neo-Egoist League arc of Blue Lock. Both teams entered the game undefeated, making it the deciding match for the league championship. More significantly, it was Isagi and Rin’s opportunity to prove who was the top player in Blue Lock before the upcoming World Cup.
The match between Bastard Munchen and PXG features some of the most stunning art and emotionally satisfying writing in the manga so far, and it’s a story that feels truly special. The third season of Blue Lock will cover the Neo-Egoist League arc, but fans are hoping the championship game will be animated with spectacular visuals for a cinematic release.
2) Granolah The Survivor Saga (Dragon Ball Super)

The Granolah the Survivor arc is the second original storyline in Dragon Ball Super, created by Akira Toriyama and Toyotaro. When Granolah learns Frieza is back, he uses his planet’s Dragon Balls to become the strongest being in the universe, seeking revenge for the destruction caused by Frieza’s army. This leads to a battle with Goku and Vegeta, and the reasons behind the conflict are more complex than they initially seem.
The Granolah the Survivor arc is a standout thanks to its incredible action sequences and well-developed characters, which explains its popularity with both fans and critics. Both it and the Galactic Prisoner arc would work well as movies, but Granolah the Survivor’s simpler storyline makes it the stronger option.
1) Harald’s Flashback & The God Valley Incident (One Piece)

Watching the Elbaf arc of One Piece unfold, I was really captivated by the story of King Harald. To get Hajrudin to release Loki, Loki had to finally reveal what really happened to Harald, and it led to a huge flashback. We didn’t just learn about Harald’s life, but we also got formally introduced to Rocks D. Xebec – and, unexpectedly, the long-anticipated details of what happened at God Valley.
The recent flashback arc in One Piece, particularly exploring Harald’s history and the God Valley Incident, is exceptionally well-crafted. With the series now using a seasonal release schedule, there’s a great opportunity to adapt these stories into a full-length, canon movie, and the God Valley Incident would be the perfect choice – easily the best option for a One Piece anime film so far.
