I’m so excited for the fifth and final season of The Boys! It sounds like things are really going to escalate – the creators are pulling out all the stops. Not only will we see Homelander and Billy Butcher going at it like never before, but the showrunner, Erik Kripke, is bringing in some friends! He’s reuniting with Misha Collins and Jared Padalecki from Supernatural – alongside Jensen Ackles who’s already been part of the show. And get this – Seth Rogen is even going to make a cameo and play himself one last time! It’s going to be an epic send-off.
Fans might have preferred going into Season 5 completely surprised, but The Boys isn’t known for that. The guest appearances aren’t the main draw – it’s the big plot twists and shocking events that really matter. Still, the show couldn’t pass up a chance to deliver on a storyline hinted at all the way back in the very first episode of its most popular spin-off.
Gen V Makes Its Connection to The Boys Clear From the Jump

The first episode of Gen V doesn’t start at Godolkin University, the school for training superheroes that’s central to the show. Instead, it opens with the Moreau family watching Vought announce the newest member of The Seven: A-Train, the first Black Supe to join the team. The family is thrilled to see someone who shares their background reach the top. However, their celebration is tragically cut short when their eldest daughter, Marie, loses control of her powers and accidentally kills her parents.
When Marie returns to Godolkin University after a few years, she’s much less enthusiastic about superheroes. She just wants a normal school experience to avoid the Red River Institute. However, her peaceful year quickly becomes chaotic when she and her friends stumble into a conspiracy and end up imprisoned. Season 2 of Gen V picks up right after Marie escapes, and all she wants is to find her sister. But things get complicated when Starlight asks her to go back to school and investigate a new scheme by Vought. This time, the mission goes better than expected, giving Marie the opportunity to fulfill her parents’ wishes by working alongside their favorite hero.
Marie Meets a Familiar Face at the End of Gen V Season 2

Marie returns to Godolkin University, even though she’s hesitant, because she knows it’s the right decision. She and her friends quickly start looking into ‘Project Odessa,’ a secret Vought program connected to the new dean, Cipher. Though she doesn’t want to, Marie starts learning more about her powers from Cipher, becoming incredibly strong. This power proves useful when Cipher reveals himself as Thomas Godolkin, the university’s founder, and a mind controller of Supes. Godolkin intends to use Marie’s abilities to heal the world, but she disagrees with his methods and ultimately defeats him, escaping campus with her friends.
The team starts by searching for Stan Edgar, but they unexpectedly encounter Starlight and A-Train, who congratulate them on a recent success. Everyone is excited to meet A-Train, and Marie clearly feels a sense of joy at working alongside someone she admired growing up, even if she doesn’t say it. Now, with the team complete, they’re ready to officially join forces and finally take down Vought.
Gen V Season 2 is streaming on Prime Video.
