After 36 years, The Simpsons just added a new member to Marge’s family! The latest episode revealed a surprising past marriage and has been full of fresh takes on beloved characters. This season has been exploring new relationships between them, and the newest episode went a step further by introducing Marge’s previously unknown aunt.
In Season 37 of The Simpsons, the show delved into the history of the Quimby family, revealing a hidden part of Mayor Quimby’s past and explaining how they’ve maintained power for so long. During this exploration, Marge’s secret aunt, Beatrice, was introduced. Marge had kept Beatrice hidden because of a painful experience from her youth – Beatrice’s divorce from Mayor Quimby had deeply hurt her.
The Simpsons Introduces Beatrice Bouvier With Season 27

In the latest episode of The Simpsons, Season 37’s “Sashes to Sashes,” the show explores the Quimby family’s past. It’s revealed that the family’s wealth began with a barrel factory owned by Joe Quimby’s grandfather, which he used to launch a political dynasty. When Joe Quimby the Third runs for office, he’s confronted by a woman who criticizes his self-serving behavior. Surprisingly, this woman turns out to be Marge’s aunt, Beatrice.
Carrie Coon voices Beatrice, who becomes a political advisor to Quimby and they begin a romantic relationship. However, due to Quimby’s history of infidelity – stemming from pressure from his father – Beatrice ends the relationship. The reason Marge has kept Beatrice a secret is revealed: when Marge was four years old, Beatrice shattered her belief in princesses and love. Marge has avoided her aunt ever since.
Will Marge’s Aunt Come Back?

In the past, The Simpsons has occasionally introduced big-name guest stars as temporary additions to the family, usually appearing only once. It seems likely this will happen again with Marge’s newly revealed sister, Beatrice. Although Marge and Beatrice reconcile after Marge understands Beatrice’s pain, the episode isn’t focused on their relationship. The main storyline revolves around the Quimby family.
While the new Bouvier sister is a noteworthy addition to the show, and voiced by a well-known actress, this episode primarily revolves around the Quimby family. It suggests this character won’t be a regular fixture, likely appearing only during major family events, now that her issues with Marge have been resolved. Still, it was a fun introduction.
