Update GPU Drivers

When you’re having trouble with a game, one of the first steps to take is updating your graphics card (GPU) drivers. Outdated drivers can often cause problems, so this is a good thing to check. Even if it doesn’t fix the issue, it helps eliminate one possible cause.

Make sure to download and install the latest version available for your GPU.

Verify Game Files

Sometimes, crashes or errors happen because game files become damaged. Luckily, this is usually a simple fix! First, locate ARC Raiders in your Steam library and right-click on its name. A menu will appear, and you should select ‘Properties’.

Next, click on “Installed Files” in the left-hand menu, then select “Verify integrity of game files.” Steam will then check all your game files and automatically redownload anything that’s missing or corrupted.

If verifying the game files doesn’t fix the problem, you could also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. It might take a little more time, but it’s another solution you can try.

Try Launch Options

If the previous steps didn’t solve the problem, you can try using different launch commands. To do this, right-click on ARC Raiders in your Steam library and choose ‘Properties’.

Okay, so when you’re in the game’s settings, head over to the ‘General’ tab. You’ll find a box labeled ‘Launch Options’ – that’s where we can tweak some things to hopefully fix any issues or improve performance. There are a few settings in there that might help, so let’s take a look!

  • -dx11 – Forces the game to use DirectX 11. This can result in worse performance for some PCs, but can also be more stable.
  • -dx12 – Forces the game to use DirectX 12, which is the default.
  • -windowed – Forces the game to launch in a window, which can help if there are corrupt display settings.

Don’t forget to begin your command with a hyphen (-). Make sure it matches the example shown previously.

Disable Discord Features

This might seem strange, but some players have found a solution for issues with ARC Raiders. Certain Discord features appear to be causing problems, so disabling them could help improve performance.

First, click the gear-shaped User Settings icon located in the bottom left corner of the screen. You’ll find it right next to your Discord username.

Next, look for Advanced settings within the App Settings – you’ll find it at the very bottom. Click on it, and then turn off Hardware Acceleration.

Also, navigate to the Game Overlay settings within Activity Settings. Similar to the previous step, ensure the “Enable Overlay” option is turned off.

Note Down Error Codes

If you’ve already tried everything else, try writing down any error messages you receive. When the game crashes, it might display an error code or message that you can search online for a more specific solution.

There are many possible reasons why the game might be experiencing problems! Technology can be unreliable, and PC games, in particular, can be affected by a wide range of issues.

Honestly, if the game isn’t running well, it might not be my computer at all – there could be a problem with ARC Raiders itself! If that’s the case, all I can really do is be patient and wait for the developers to release updates and fix whatever’s going on.
