Netflix just released the first trailer for season 2 of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and it looks like things are getting much bigger and more intense! Season 2 follows Lara (voiced again by Hayley Atwell) and her friend Sam as they try to recover stolen African Orisha masks. They quickly discover the masks possess a hidden and significant power, along with ancient secrets. They must unravel these mysteries while preventing a wealthy billionaire from obtaining the masks and exploiting their power for her own gain.
The trailer shows this power can do incredible things, but it also poses a serious threat to the world. Teleportation is just one of the amazing abilities these masks offer, and any explorer would want it. However, if these masks fall into the wrong hands, things could quickly become dangerous, forcing Lara to seek help from some surprising new friends.
Showrunner Tasha Huo shared that Lara Croft will undergo a significant change in season 2. The new season will center on Lara learning to rely on others and accept help, moving away from her tendency to work alone. According to Huo, season 1 explores how Lara copes with grief by isolating herself, mirroring her father’s approach. Season 2 will focus on building a team around Lara, transforming her from a solitary hero into someone who recognizes the value of collaboration and support.
