Long-running soap opera Coronation Street is setting up a compelling new storyline for beloved character Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson.
Having lived in Weatherfield for the past thirty years, this character has experienced a lot, and it seems he may have unintentionally found himself in trouble again.
Roy tends to look for the good in everyone, but this caused serious problems last year. He ended up in jail after becoming involved with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a former extremist who claimed to have changed her ways.

She vanished without a trace, and he was among the last people known to have seen her. He subsequently cleaned her apartment, which led authorities to suspect him in her disappearance.
Now, reflecting on that experience in prison, he’s taken up a new hobby.
Nina Lucas noticed her uncle was nervously waiting for a delivery, clearly hoping to hear from a new friend he’d been writing to. She became curious about who the letters were from, and the truth was a real surprise.
He volunteered with a program that connects prisoners with penpals, and quickly mailed his latest letter.

Later that day, Nina went downstairs and found her friend Summer Spellman outside. They were both surprised to see Roy writing another note. He hadn’t received a response from his friend in jail yet, so they wondered why he was so quick to write another one.
Nina went to the shop to get more stamps, and he carefully shielded his letter, not wanting her to see who he was writing to.
Considering so many former residents are currently imprisoned, is it possible the King is in contact with someone familiar to us?
