Twisted Metal Shapes Up for Another Season of Sublimely Stupid Television

The initial season of Twisted Metal turned out to be a surprisingly great take on one of PlayStation’s classic game series, and it seems like the next season will take things to even higher levels of chaos.

If you’ve caught the series, you’d recall its thrilling conclusion where Anthony Mackie’s character, John Doe, got drawn into the famous Twisted Metal competition, a tournament modeled after the video games.

In the trailer, Calypso initiates a demolition derby-like spectacle, with some recognizable companions by her side.

Axel, the character known for his massive arm-mounted wheels, makes an appearance, along with Vermin, True Raven, and a fresh face named Mayhem.

Here’s how Peacock summarises the show:

In the closing episode of season one, John and Quiet embark on a perilous journey into the Twisted Metal tournament, a malevolent car race overseen by an enigmatic figure named Calypso. Amidst battling fresh threats and familiar adversaries such as the homicidal clown Sweet Tooth, John’s life becomes more tangled when he crosses paths with his long-lost sister, the avenging vigilante Dollface.

Starting from July 31st, the series will begin streaming on Peacock. For viewers in the UK, the first season became available on Paramount+, but there’s currently no information about whether the next season will also be shown there. We’ll make sure to update you as soon as we know more.
