Kevin Spacey Is “Living in Hotels” After Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Kevin Spacey is between places at the moment.

After a two-year break from acting following a costly and highly publicized sexual misconduct case where he was found not guilty, the former star of House of Cards has spoken about what his life has been like since.

Okay, so Kevin Spacey just told The Telegraph this, and honestly, it breaks my heart a little. He’s basically saying he’s completely nomadic now! He’s hopping from hotel to Airbnb, just following whatever job comes up. Can you believe it? He actually said he doesn’t even have a home anymore. It’s so sad, but also… kind of amazing? He’s fully committed to the work, wherever it takes him. I’m obsessed with everything about this!

He explained he had to sell his house in Maryland because his expenses had become incredibly high over the past seven years, with very little income to balance them out.

After being found not guilty on nine charges by a London jury in 2023, the 66-year-old is now working to rebuild his finances and get comfortable speaking to audiences again.

He said, “You just have to keep going.” He feels like he’s starting over, simply taking jobs wherever they’re available. Right now, all his belongings are in storage, but he’s hopeful that as things get better, he’ll be able to choose where he wants to live long-term.

Despite being a two-time Oscar winner, he revealed that bankruptcy was considered as an option, but ultimately wasn’t necessary.

In 2017, actor Anthony Rapp and three others in the U.K. publicly accused Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct. While Rapp filed a civil lawsuit alleging battery, a New York jury ruled in Spacey’s favor in 2022. In 2023, a London court also found him not guilty of similar charges.

His career suffered immediately: Netflix fired him and took him off the last season of House of Cards.

Despite having finished filming All the Money in the World with Kevin Spacey, director Ridley Scott made the drastic decision to replace him with Charlie Plummer and re-film all of Spacey’s scenes. As Scott explained to Entertainment Weekly in 2017, sometimes a firm stance is necessary.

As someone who keeps a close eye on the entertainment industry, I’m watching Kevin Spacey’s situation closely. It’s been almost ten years since the initial accusations came to light, and he recently did a variety show in Greece on November 15th. Now, he’s expressed a desire to get back to working in Hollywood, and it’ll be interesting to see if he’s successful.

I was reading an interview with him in The Telegraph, and he said he’s been talking to some very influential people who are keen to see him return to work – and it sounds like that’s definitely going to happen when the time is right. But what really struck me is what he said about the industry. It seems like everyone’s just waiting for someone they really trust and respect to give the go-ahead. They need that signal before things can really move forward.

Nonetheless, Spacey has taken his downfall as a learning lesson.

He said it’s been a really positive experience. He’s had the chance to pause, reflect on his life, and examine his past actions. He wanted to understand why he was so effective as a ‘villain’ and why he seemed to fit that role so well. He also felt it was important to take responsibility for his mistakes.
