Billie Eilish, the popular singer, recently expressed strong disapproval of Elon Musk in a series of outspoken posts on her Instagram Story.
With Elon Musk potentially becoming the world’s first trillionaire, many people, including Billie Eilish, have questioned how he’s choosing to use his vast wealth. Eilish recently highlighted a list of five suggestions from the activist group My Voice, My Choice, outlining how Musk could use his money for good, before sharing her own strong opinions about him.

The presentation felt overly idealistic, starting with broad goals like eliminating world hunger. It then listed other ambitious aims – curing diseases, protecting endangered animals, rebuilding Gaza, and stopping mothers from dying in childbirth. The slideshow concluded with a section titled “What he does instead,” featuring a picture of Musk extending his arm, which many online critics interpreted as a white nationalist gesture.
This isn’t the first time Eilish has called out the wealthy.
Eilish vs the Billionaires
Billie Eilish received an award at this year’s WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards. During the ceremony, host Stephen Colbert announced that Eilish is donating $11.5 million from her current tour to support organizations working on food security, climate justice, and lowering carbon emissions.

But for those in attendance, Eilish had a few choice words.
She addressed the crowd, including Mark Zuckerberg and George Lucas, with a message of generosity. ‘I love you all,’ she said, ‘but some of you have far more wealth than I do. If you’re a billionaire, what are you waiting for? Share your money!’ She clarified she wasn’t directing any negativity towards them, playfully calling them ‘shorties’ as she urged them to donate.
Any hate Eilish spares billionaires apparently doesn’t extend to Musk.
Elon Musk Responds to Billie Eilish
On November 14th, Billie Eilish publicly criticized Elon Musk on social media, calling him a coward for what she sees as his unwillingness to support humanitarian efforts. Many users on X responded by saying they were annoyed by the debate over how wealthy individuals spend their money, and some pointed out that Musk’s wealth isn’t all immediately accessible.

After Billie Eilish’s angry outburst, the company responded with a dismissive insult, saying she wasn’t very bright.
She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed

I’ve been following Billie Eilish on her tour for Wildflower, which is amazing and even got a Grammy nomination! Seeing her perform is incredible, and honestly, I don’t expect she’ll be revisiting her comments about Elon Musk anytime soon – she’s so focused on this tour, and rightfully so.
Overlapping Ecosystems
Billie Eilish probably won’t change her habit of giving financial advice to very rich people, even after Elon Musk commented on it. As reported by Variety, winning a Grammy would give her a platform to publicly address Musk and other billionaires on national TV.

Musk likely didn’t pay much attention to Billie Eilish’s criticism. He’s currently concentrating on Grokipedia, a project he envisions as a huge, publicly accessible collection of all universal knowledge. He’s also continuing his work with Neuralink, aiming to help people with serious injuries, and pushing forward with SpaceX to make travel to Mars a reality.
With social media increasingly blending pop culture, world events, and technology, we can expect to see more public figures like Billie Eilish publicly challenging Elon Musk in surprising ways.
