Welcome to Wrexham
Ryan Reynolds, famous for action movies like Deadpool, and Rob McElhenney, known for the comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, team up in the Hulu documentary series Welcome to Wrexham. The show highlights their unexpected journey as owners of a Welsh football club.
As a huge cinema and TV fan, I stumbled upon Welcome to Wrexham when it first came out in 2022, and I was instantly hooked! It’s already got four seasons of ten episodes each, and we’re all eagerly awaiting the fifth in 2026. The show follows Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after their crazy decision to buy Wrexham AFC – a soccer club with a serious history, being the third oldest in the world. And honestly, it lives up to the hype – it’s got a fantastic 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is totally binge-worthy!
Wilfred
If you subscribe to Hulu, you can watch a lot of original shows from FX, including popular comedies like Wilfred. This funny and slightly dark series, starring Elijah Wood and Jason Gann, originally aired from 2011 to 2014 and has 49 episodes across four seasons.
The show Wilfred starts with a funny idea: a struggling guy named Ryan believes his neighbor’s dog, Wilfred, is actually a human in a dog costume. Originally a popular show on FX, Wilfred has a strong fan base and is considered one of the best comedies available to stream on Hulu, earning an 88% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Pose
Pose is a highly praised drama series that takes place in New York City during the late 1980s. It primarily tells the stories of the gay and transgender communities of that time. The show, an FX original, premiered in 2018, ran for three seasons with a total of 26 episodes, and concluded in 2021. With a rating of 8.6 on IMDb, it’s currently ranked as one of the top 250 TV shows of all time.
The groundbreaking series Pose received 4 Emmy Awards across its three seasons, with Billy Porter winning for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. It’s also incredibly well-regarded by critics, boasting a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, including a perfect 100% score for its final season. If you enjoy critically acclaimed television, Pose is essential viewing and widely considered one of the greatest shows of all time.
Damages
Hulu also features the critically acclaimed legal drama Damages, starring Glenn Close, Ted Danson, and Rose Byrne. Created by the writer of the popular Netflix series Bloodline, Damages is often ranked among the best crime dramas of the 2000s and 2010s.
The legal drama Damages first aired in 2007 and ran for five seasons, totaling 59 episodes. During its time on FX, it won 4 Emmy Awards, including two for Glenn Close, who played the acclaimed lawyer Patty Hewes. If you’re a fan of legal thrillers and haven’t watched Damages yet, it’s a must-see show now available on Hulu.
The Bear
Whether or not The Bear has maintained the incredible quality of its first season, which debuted in 2022, is up for debate, but many still consider it one of the best shows of the 2020s. The show, centered around the culinary world, received an impressive 21 Emmy Awards and a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season, followed by a 99% score for season 2.
Like shows such as Stranger Things and Euphoria, The Bear has launched the careers of its talented cast, including Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Despite being a surprisingly serious show, The Bear is full of genuine emotion and energy, making it a truly satisfying and even moving show to watch all at once on Hulu.
