After ITV announced its Christmas schedule for 2025 last week, the BBC has now revealed its own festive programming, promising a variety of shows to entertain viewers throughout the holidays.
Many popular shows are returning for the holidays. Viewers can look forward to special festive episodes of dramas like Call the Midwife, Beyond Paradise, and Death in Paradise, and comedies including Amandaland, Mammoth, Mandy, and Mrs Brown’s Boys.
Many popular shows are coming back to television, including special episodes of Strictly Come Dancing, Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Wheel, Gladiators, and The Repair Shop. We can also look forward to fresh takes on familiar formats like Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Christmas and The Celebrity Apprentice.
But there’s still lots more to look forward to! This year, you can enjoy a new adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s ‘The Scarecrows’ Wedding’, a chilling Christmas ghost story called ‘The Room in the Tower’ from Mark Gatiss, and a fascinating look at London’s wildlife hosted by Sir David Attenborough in ‘Wild London’.
Two new comedies are coming soon: Shedites, featuring cast members from Mrs Brown’s Boys, and Stuffed, a festive adventure starring Guz Khan.

Planning for New Year’s 2026 is already underway, and there’s a lot to look forward to! In addition to popular New Year’s Eve shows like Ronan Keating & Friends, Jools’ Annual Hootenanny, and The Graham Norton Show, a special episode of the comedy series Here We Go is also planned.
Starting on New Year’s Day, you’ll be able to watch The Night Manager. And The Traitors is planned to come back with a fourth season for regular viewers, likely beginning in 2026.
Good news for fans of The Traitors – a special broadcast at the Proms is coming soon! Plus, there’s a lineup of other musical events planned, including a new production of Kiss Me, Kate, a celebratory ‘Biggest Night of Musicals’ event, a year-end review of pop hits, and a collection of classic Christmas music videos.
As a total quiz and competition show addict, I’m thrilled to see they’re not letting up this season! We’ve got festive versions of all my favorites coming up – a Christmas edition of The Weakest Link, The Festive Finish Line, University Challenge, a holiday Great British Sewing Bee, and even a Christmas MasterChef. Seriously, bring on the challenges!

With MasterChef sparking our interest in food, the festive season wouldn’t be complete without Mary Berry – she’s hosting ‘A Mary Berry Christmas’ on BBC One. And for a behind-the-scenes look, Paddy McGuinness and Cherry Healey are exploring how gingerbread is made in a special Christmas episode of ‘Inside the Factory’.
This Christmas, enjoy heartwarming new shows like ‘Gone Christmas Fishing’ featuring Bob Mortimer, Paul Whitehouse, and Ted the terrier. Plus, favorites like ‘Celebrity Escape to the Country,’ ‘Christmas Treasures of the National Trust,’ and a new series of ‘My Life at Christmas’ with Anita Rani are coming back.
This is just a small preview of what’s coming. More children’s shows like ‘Shaun the Sheep – Fleece Navidad’ and ‘The Famous Five – Big Trouble on Billycock Hill’ will be available, along with yearly favorites such as Sports Personality of the Year and Carols From King’s.
Movie lovers have a lot to look forward to! This year, the BBC will be showing popular films like Elvis, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Robin Robin, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Oppenheimer, Operation Mincemeat, Challengers, and Back to Black.
We’ll share the complete schedule, including dates and times, soon. We also anticipate announcements from other networks in the next few days, following ITV’s confirmation of new seasons of Red Eye and The Masked Singer.
