Channel 4 has shared a sneak peek at the upcoming second season of its popular detective show, Patience. This season will feature a new actor joining the cast.
The show launched at the beginning of the year, featuring Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis), a York Police officer who quickly moved from a behind-the-scenes job in records to solving the city’s most challenging cases.
She worked with Detective Inspector Bea Metcalf (known for her role in Breaking Bad as Laura Fraser), but Metcalf doesn’t appear in season two. Instead, Patience is assigned a new supervisor: Detective Frankie Monroe, played by Jessica Hynes.
Many viewers will recognize Hynes from her work on shows like Spaced, W1A, and There She Goes. She also appeared in popular episodes of Doctor Who, specifically ‘Human Nature’ and ‘The Family of Blood’.

Honestly, the arrival of Frankie is really shaking things up for Patience at work. The previews hint at a major clash of styles – apparently, Frankie’s a very different kind of boss, and it sounds like things are going to get complicated for both of them. It’s going to be interesting to see how they navigate that!
As a fan of the series, I’m thrilled to report that the new season doesn’t disappoint when it comes to intriguing cases. We’re talking seriously twisted mysteries unfolding in some truly stunning locations – picture a killer lurking within York Minster, a murder inside a monastery, and a body discovered in the beautiful Botanical Gardens. It’s visually gorgeous and keeps you guessing!

The TV show ‘Patience’ is inspired by the French-Belgian series ‘Astrid et Raphaëlle’ and has received positive attention for its realistic portrayal of autism, both through the main character and thanks to actress Laura Purvis, who herself is autistic.
The show’s first season was a hit, averaging 4.2 million viewers and becoming Channel 4’s most successful new series in four years. It’s now being shown in 33 countries worldwide.

Channel 4 says the latest installment of this popular series is even better than before and will continue to please viewers worldwide.
Season two of Patience brings back Nathan Welsh (Trying) as DS Jake Hunter, Mark Benton (Smoggie Queens) as Calvin Baxter, Adrian Rawlins (Chernobyl) as Douglas Gilmore, and Ali Ariaie (The Great) as DC Will Akbari, alongside Purvis and Hynes.
The cast also includes Connor Curren, known for his role as Dodger, playing Billy Thompson, Liza Sadovy, from The Rumour, as Dr. Loretta Parsons, and Tom Lewis, who starred in Gentleman Jack, as Elliot Scott, Patience’s romantic partner.
