Ubisoft and FX have announced a TV adaptation of the popular open world shooter series, Far Cry.
The franchise’s official social media accounts just announced that the show will be an anthology series.
According to Variety, the show is a new project from Noah Hawley and Rob McElhenney. Hawley created the TV series Fargo, Legion, and Alien: Earth, while McElhenney is famous for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Mac, known for his role in the Far Cry games, has previously collaborated with Ubisoft on the shows Mythic Quest and Side Quest.
The upcoming Far Cry TV show will be an anthology series, meaning each season will tell a completely new story with a different location and set of characters, just like the Far Cry video games. It’s currently unclear if the show will adapt specific stories from the games themselves.
It’s planned to stream on Hulu in the USA, and Disney+ everywhere else.
Given the talent at the top, it seems this has good potential as an action thriller TV show.
We haven’t heard what Ubisoft is planning for its next games, but there are rumors that they’re going to try something different with the upcoming releases.
