Christmas is just around the corner, and that means a special celebrity edition of The Great British Sewing Bee is coming soon!
The sewing workshop will have a fresh face this year! Sophie Willan will host a special festive episode, and then take over as the main host of the series after Christmas, following Sara Pascoe’s departure earlier in the year.
As a huge fan of The Great British Sewing Bee, I was thrilled to hear they’d added Sophie to the team! Tom Davies, one of the show’s executive producers, said they were really excited to have her and couldn’t wait to see what fresh ideas and talent she’d bring to the sewing room – and honestly, I feel the same way!
With the holidays approaching and plenty of special TV shows on the way, the BBC has announced the celebrities who will be competing to win over judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young.
Lucy Beaumont, Anton Du Beke, Susan Wokoma, and Tom Wilson – known from shows like Celebrity Traitors, Strictly Come Dancing, Taskmaster, and Gladiators – will be putting their skills to the test in some festive, holiday-themed challenges.
We don’t know the exact challenges for this year yet, but last year’s holiday special involved the celebrities creatively reimagining an advent calendar and then designing and making a Christmas costume for a child.
Grant revealed that more often than not, he and Young “are on kind of the same wavelength”.
He pointed out two challenges: first, deciding on the order himself, and second, making sure his order matched what Esme had in mind. He felt the second part would be easier, as they generally agreed on things.
