Supernatural To Get a Surprise Holiday Special (Just Not How You Might Expect)

It’s been a whirlwind week for fans of Supernatural. First, they learned all 15 seasons would be removed from Netflix. Then came the good news: the show, about the Winchester brothers who hunt demons, would be available on both Prime Video and Peacock starting in December. Now, there’s even more to be excited about – a holiday special featuring Sam and Dean, though it’s not quite what most viewers anticipated.

The world of Supernatural continues in comics with a Valentine’s Day special arriving February 4, 2026, from Dynamite Entertainment. This new adventure will see Sam and Dean Winchester facing something potentially scarier than monsters and death itself: the complexities of love and what people will do for it. Preeti Chhibber writes the story, with artwork by Pasquale Qualano.

The Winchesters Are About to Find Out That Love is Scarier Than Even Death

The upcoming Supernatural Valentine Day Special 2026 #1 seems to involve someone attempting to bring back a deceased loved one – a dangerous idea, considering everything fans know about the show’s rules regarding death. This interference has apparently attracted the attention of a powerful and unpredictable goddess of desire, which could create serious trouble for Sam and Dean Winchester. You can find the official details below.

As a total movie and TV buff, I’ve always been fascinated by stories about love and loss, and Supernatural really gets it. Sam and Dean Winchester have sacrificed everything – a normal life, everything – to hunt down the things that hurt the people they cared about. Seriously, they’ve seen some stuff! So, if anyone can wrap their head around why someone would make a deal with the devil just to bring a loved one back, it’s those two brothers. They get that kind of desperate heartbreak.

Just because something seems easy to do doesn’t mean it’s a good idea—or safe! In fact, messing with powerful, dangerous forces almost always leads to disaster. This time, attempting to control a small underworld creature accidentally unleashed an incredibly powerful and wild goddess of desire. The chaos that follows demonstrates the overwhelming force of love, and it’s up to Sam and Dean to stop it.

Supernatural Is Continuing on In Comics — And It’s Delivering Some of the Series’ Best Stories

Fans are excited about the upcoming Supernatural holiday special, but there’s also a new comic series continuing the story! Published by Dynamite, this ongoing series from writer Greg Pak and artist Eder Messias captures the feel of the show’s early seasons, focusing on standalone monster hunts. While set between the first and second seasons of the TV show, the comic actually takes place sometime within Season 1 – the first issue references the brothers not knowing their father’s whereabouts, and he doesn’t die until the beginning of Season 2. Given how beloved Season 1 is, the comic has a similar tone and energy, which is a great sign for the series. It might not be the full continuation some fans are hoping for – many would love another TV show or reunion – but a well-crafted comic that captures the spirit of Supernatural could be exactly what we need, and could even make the holiday special even better.

The first issue of Supernatural Valentine’s Day Special 2026 will be available from Dynamite Entertainment on February 4, 2026.
