In a recent State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch unveiled comprehensive details about their upcoming title, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, titled Ghost of Yōtei. Set in the region of Ezo, Atsu, who has been away for 16 years, returns with the intention of tracking down the Yōtei Six and seeking vengeance for her family.
In the course of play, players can access her memories with just one click of a button and gain insights into her travels. This adventure leads players to the outskirts of Japan, and co-director Jason Connell hints at an unprecedented level of player autonomy in a Sucker Punch game. You’re free to engage in battles, explore the environment or follow the storyline. However, as you progress, you’ll come across hints that help achieve various objectives.
If you question someone and pick the Oni card, it could take you to a place swarming with adversaries. Conversely, choosing the Kitsune card will lead you to a different location offering unique enhancements (and possible traps). Atsu gains quite a reputation in the area, drawing dangerous opponents, but she can also chase rewards and earn wealth. As you traverse the land and follow Golden Birds, you’ll stumble upon Altar of Reflections that grant new powers.
Absolutely, you’ll find a tool called a Spyglass to help you identify locations worth exploring. Interestingly, map-makers also offer Traveler’s Maps that reveal parts of the terrain. As you navigate this expansive environment, bumping into flower streams can give you a speed advantage. Additionally, Bamboo Strikes are back as they enhance your Focus level. You can also draw the scenery around you and take a relaxing dip in hot springs to potentially boost your maximum health.
Starting October 2nd, I’ll be diving into the world of “Ghost of Yōtei” on my PS5! This thrilling adventure will cost $69.99. If you’re a fan like me, you might want to check out the Collector’s Edition, where you’ll score The Snake’s armor set, a custom horse and saddle, a gold Sword Kit, and some cool physical items!
