Fans are buzzing about a possible update on the highly anticipated One Piece remake anime. With the original manga and anime still running, plus spinoffs and the upcoming second season of the Netflix live-action series, One Piece has a lot going on. The remake anime with Netflix was announced previously, but we haven’t heard much about it until now, suggesting news might be coming soon.
As a huge One Piece fan, I’m getting really excited! The official One Piece store just dropped two new illustrations from the upcoming remake anime – and it looks like we might finally get some proper news at Jump Festa 2026 later this month! It’s not a full announcement yet, but it’s the first thing we’ve seen since they showed us some early concept art last year. Honestly, any update on the remake would be amazing at this point – I’m so ready to see what they’re planning!
What We Know About The One Piece So Far
The official One Piece store recently posted two new illustrations created by WIT Studio for their One Piece remake. Fans speculate these could be teasers for an upcoming reveal at Jump Festa 2026. The remake project was first announced in 2023.

A new anime series, officially called The One Piece, is currently being made for Netflix. Masashi Koizuka will direct the series, with animation by WIT Studio – known for the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and Ranking of Kings. Hideaki Abe is the assistant director, and Taku Kishimoto is writing the series. Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda are designing the characters and leading the animation, while Yasuhiro Kajino is designing the creatures and Eri Taguchi is handling props. Ken Imaizumi and Shuhei Fukuda are directing the action, and Tomomori Kuroda is the art director.
Sources confirm the new One Piece anime will adapt Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series from the start, but with a key difference from the previous Toei Animation version. This adaptation aims to stay much closer to the source material. According to Koizuka, a key figure on the project, they want to fully utilize the strengths of the manga, which will result in differences from the earlier anime. He explained during One Piece Day 2024 that this commitment to faithfulness is central to WIT Studio’s approach and will make their version of The One Piece unique.
Will We Get a One Piece Remake Update?
Jump Festa 2026, Shueisha’s big annual event in Japan happening December 20-21, is where the company usually reveals its plans for popular series. Fans have learned major news about One Piece at this event in the past, and it could be the place where we finally get a first look at the remake – perhaps even some gameplay footage. While we might not get a release date, it’s likely to be a significant reveal.
I’ve been hearing a lot of discussion about what exactly One Piece will ultimately be, and if fans will even be interested in a new anime adaptation. However, with the original One Piece anime shifting to a seasonal release starting in 2026, it seems like there will be plenty of room for all sorts of new One Piece content to come out.
