I have to say, the latest episode quietly revealed something really sweet you might have blinked and missed: the fate of what I think is the show’s best couple. Now, My Hero Academia isn’t exactly known for romance, but honestly, little touches of it actually make the inspiring themes even stronger. Everyone’s been rooting for Deku and Uraraka, but it’s actually Gentle Criminal (Danjuro Tobita) and La Brava (Manami Aiba) who really nail the idea of love being a powerful, uplifting force. Their relationship honestly felt more representative of that theme than anything else!
These two villains both started down a criminal path because society let them down. Gentle Criminal, in particular, has a deeply tragic past and wants to reveal the problems within the world. This resonated with La Brava, a brilliant hacker who also felt abandoned. Driven by a shared desire to expose societal flaws, they became a powerful duo. Their connection, amplified by La Brava’s quirk, “Love,” is arguably the most heartwarming romance in My Hero Academia. Fortunately, a recent episode suggests a positive future for them both.
My Hero Academia Gives a Happy Ending to Its Much-Deserving Couple
Episode 169 of My Hero Academia, “The Girl Who Loves Smiles,” begins with Gentle Criminal and La Brava being released from the police station. Officers nearby note their release is thanks to their help during the final war, meaning the couple can now finally live the life they’ve dreamed of. Beyond that, the episode subtly highlights how their actions in the battle showed they had the potential to be heroes and positively impact the world.
Gentle and La Brava work incredibly well together, proving they’re skilled at covert missions – a talent they’ve already shown. Their acceptance into society isn’t just a pardon for past mistakes, but a chance for them to fulfill their potential and use their abilities for good, something they once hoped for before turning to villainy. Their journey reflects a common theme in My Hero Academia: with support and understanding, fewer people might fall into darkness. Inspired by Deku, society is starting to change, and hopefully, My Hero Academia will see fewer tragic villains and more stories of unity and hope, like the relationship between La Brava and Gentle Criminal.
