Selena Gomez Makes First Appearance With Taylor Swift at Chiefs Game

Taylor Swift had her bestie by her side as she supported her lover.

On December 7th, Selena Gomez attended her first Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium to support her close friend, Travis Kelce, as the Chiefs played the Houston Texans.

A fan on X noticed Taylor Swift was keeping a low profile at the game, and mentioned she was sitting with Selena Gomez and their friend Lena Dunham. Another fan jokingly posted that their parents were seated next to Swift and Gomez, expressing their excitement and disbelief.

Okay, so I was completely glued to the screen, and Taylor looked amazing in this gorgeous gray coat! And Selena was there too, looking so chic in a black fur jacket – they were just chatting and having the best time in their suite. Honestly, even though Travis and the Chiefs were losing to the Texans – it was a tough game, 20-10 – Taylor was still smiling and watching every single play with such focus. I swear, she was totally into it, and it was everything!

Taylor Swift was last seen at a Kansas City Chiefs game on November 24th, when they won against the Indianapolis Colts at Arrowhead Stadium. Since she first started attending games in September 2023, the singer has been more private, and the Chiefs organization has been careful to protect her privacy.

The Philadelphia Eagles intentionally didn’t put Taylor Swift on their stadium screens during games for a while, even with all the cameras catching her celebrating. Team president Mark Donovan recently shared on the ‘Up and Adams Show’ that they made a conscious decision to avoid showing her on the big screens – it was a gesture of respect, and they weren’t planning to change that approach.

Travis admires Taylor’s growing love for football and how dedicated she is to supporting the Chiefs and their fans.

Travis told Taylor on their August podcast, New Heights, that he was incredibly grateful she embraced the world of football. He said he appreciated it “whole-heartedly.” Taylor playfully pointed out that she hadn’t just dipped her toes in – she’d fully immersed herself.

“I became obsessed with it,” she said. “My friends were like, ‘Who body snatched you?'”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship started in July 2023 when Swift’s Eras Tour visited Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Being a big Taylor Swift fan, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his jersey number on it at the concert. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to reach her because she was busy getting ready for the show.

Travis explained on his podcast, New Heights, that he was a little upset Taylor Swift didn’t talk much before or after her concerts. He understood she needed to protect her voice for the 44 songs she performs, but he was hoping to give her one of the friendship bracelets he’d made.

I was absolutely thrilled when Travis, after jokingly talking about dropping the ball – which he later called an awesome moment, honestly – actually took the leap and invited Taylor to a Chiefs game at Arrowhead! It was such a bold move, and I knew right then it was something special.

He explained on The Pat McAfee Show that he challenged Taylor Swift, saying he’d seen her perform at Arrowhead Stadium and suggested she come see him perform there too, to see who gives a better show. He added that we’ll see if anything comes of it soon.

Travis had grown a mustache, first showing it off in August during football training camp, when he met Taylor for the first time.

He later recalled that his mustache and number 87 jersey were a memorable look at the time, and he was sporting them when he first met Taylor.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Travis and Taylor began communicating via text and phone calls around the beginning of September, as reported by TopMob News.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Taylor accepted Travis Kelce’s invitation and went to Arrowhead Stadium to see him and the Chiefs play against the Chicago Bears, accompanied by Travis’s mom, Donna Kelce. After the game, Taylor and Travis were photographed showing affection for each other at a nearby bar.

Everyone always thought Taylor and Joe first met in person when those photos came out, but Taylor actually explained they’d already gotten to know each other really well before that! It wasn’t their first meeting at all – they’d spent a lot of time together beforehand, which was so sweet to hear.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.” 

To show how serious things were getting, Taylor brought a group of her friends – including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to see the Chiefs play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Taylor Swift seems to be getting close to Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Travis Kelce’s best friend and teammate, Patrick Mahomes. This connection, both at and away from NFL games, is another hint that Taylor and Travis might be a couple.

The couple publicly showcased their relationship with a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on October 14th. They continued the celebration with the show’s after-party and a romantic dinner at the Waverly Inn.

During the NFL’s bye week, Travis flew to Argentina to see Taylor Swift perform on her Eras Tour. While there on November 11th in Buenos Aires, he connected with Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, and even received a mention from Taylor during the show.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, Taylor Swift reportedly rushed backstage and shared a loving kiss with Travis Kelce.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

She told Time magazine that she’s excited to support him doing what he’s passionate about, and they’re both there for each other. They don’t worry about who else is around. It’s the opposite of having to hide their relationship and go to great lengths to keep it secret.

 

The famous singer made Travis’s game on December 17th a family event, bringing her father along to support her boyfriend.

Oh my gosh, you guys, it happened! Taylor and Travis rang in the New Year together! I’m seriously losing it – they actually kissed when the clock struck midnight on January 1st! It was the most perfect, romantic thing ever, and I’m so happy for them! I can’t stop thinking about it!

Taylor continued getting to know Travis’ family, spending time with his brother Jason Kelce and sister-in-law Kylie Kelce while watching the Chiefs play the Buffalo Bills.

After the Chiefs won the AFC Championship and secured their place in the 2024 Super Bowl, Taylor joined Travis on the field to celebrate. They shared a kiss and then told each other ‘I love you’.

I was so thrilled watching Travis and the Chiefs win! And then, right there on the field after the victory in Las Vegas on February 11th, 2024, they shared a kiss – it was such a sweet moment!

On February 12th, Taylor shared a video of Travis online, jokingly showing how she brought her parents to a club with him after the Super Bowl.

Taylor Swift’s first Instagram post with Travis Kelce showed the two of them with Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The photo was taken backstage at Swift’s Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium in London.

Okay, so I’m still reeling from it! I was at another Eras Tour show – seriously, this was my seventh! – and it was the second night at Wembley in London. And get this – Travis Kelce actually came onstage with Taylor during ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart’! He was like, a backup performer! It was the most incredible, surreal moment ever, and I’m pretty sure I screamed the whole time. I can’t even breathe thinking about it!

Taylor Swift attended the Kansas City Chiefs’ first game of the 2024-25 season and seemed to recreate a sweet moment with Travis Kelce that fans first saw in October 2023. The photo was shared by Chariah Gordon, who is pictured alongside her boyfriend, Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman.

They went to the wedding of model Karen Elson and Lee Foster, who owns Electric Lady Studios, in New York City.

The next day, the pair attended the men’s singles final match at the U.S. Open.

The two stepped out for a double dinner date with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in NYC.

The couple went on two dates in New York City over the final weekend of 2024, and they coordinated their outfits for both outings.

I was so excited to hear they spent the off-season together! They even took a snowy trip to Montana with Erin Andrews, which sounds absolutely amazing. It’s great to see them enjoying some downtime and making memories.

In July 2025, Travis shared the first photos of him and Taylor together on Instagram. One cute picture, taken during dinner, also happened to show that they both had photos of each other set as their phone lockscreens.

She appeared on Travis and Jason Kelce’s podcast in a special, almost two-hour episode on August 13th, and was incredibly open about what life is like for her and Travis, both publicly and privately. And the biggest news? She announced her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which is coming out October 3rd! It was a truly revealing and exciting moment for fans.

Over two years after Travis mentioned Taylor on his podcast – a moment that quickly spread online – the couple announced their engagement. They playfully referenced Taylor’s song “So High School” in an Instagram post on August 26th, captioning their engagement photos with, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
