Kelsey Grammer Joined by Daughter Faith, 13, in Rare Appearance

Kelsey Grammer had a special date over the weekend.

Kelsey Grammer, known for his role in Frasier, attended the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C., on December 7th with his 13-year-old daughter, Faith, and his wife, Kayte Walsh.

Kelsey, age 70, looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo at the event. His daughter, Faith, matched his elegance in a beautiful sleeveless floral dress and delicate nude heels.

The pair were also seen together the previous night at a reception for the Kennedy Center Honors Medallion.

Although Kelsey didn’t win an award himself, he presented the honors to this year’s winners: Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Michael Crawford, and the band KISS.

Kelsey Grammer’s wife, Kayte, recently appeared in public just two months after giving birth to their son, Christopher. The couple, who married in 2011, are also parents to Gabriel, 10, and James, 8. Kelsey has four other children: Spencer, 41, with Doreen Alderman; Greer, 33, with Barrie Buckner; and Mason, 23, and Jude, 20, with Camille Grammer.

Kelsey’s relationship with her father has become a major focus recently. Last month, Greer shared how they reconnected after being estranged for 12 years – a separation that began when Kelsey was 16, following an unexpected encounter at a Christmas tree lot.

He approached me and asked if I was Greer. When I confirmed that I was, he started to introduce himself, but I cut him off, saying, ‘I already know who you are!’ We exchanged numbers, went to lunch the following week, and that’s how our relationship began, as she shared on the November 5th episode of the Pretty Basic podcast.

Kelsey recently shared his experiences as a father, reflecting on the lessons he’s learned raising children later in life.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Kelsey admitted he hadn’t given enough attention to some of his children, particularly his oldest two. He said he’s working to reconnect with them now, emphasizing that a parent can always step up and be there for their kids.

One of the actor’s biggest lessons? Learning to parent everyone differently.

Looking back, I realize I should have been more direct and set firmer boundaries with the older group. I’m generally pretty patient with younger people, but I make sure they understand what’s expected of them and how to handle themselves in social settings.

Kelsey Grammer and dance instructor Doreen Alderman married in 1982 and had a daughter, Spencer Grammer, on October 9, 1983.

Kelsey and Doreen separated shortly after their son, Spencer, was born, though their divorce wasn’t finalized until 1990. Kelsey has since acknowledged that he wasn’t as involved a parent as he should have been during those early years.

In a May 2025 interview with People, Kelsey admitted he hadn’t given enough attention to some of his children, particularly his oldest two. He explained he’s working to rebuild those relationships now, emphasizing that a parent can always be there for their kids.

 

Spencer was married to James Hesketh, a firefighter, from 2011 until 2017. They have a son named Emmett, who was born in October 2011.

Spencer, an actress and singer famous for her role in Greek and as the voice of Summer in Rick and Morty, achieved a long-held ambition in 2022 when she starred alongside Kelsey as his daughter in The 12 Days of Christmas Eve.

This was Spencer’s first time starring in a Christmas movie, and it was especially meaningful because he got to do it with his father. He’d always hoped for the chance to work alongside him, he told TopMob News.

In July 2024, she was saddened by the passing of her former stepfather, Dr. Bill Skinner, who had been a constant presence in her life since she was five years old, even after her parents divorced.

Spencer shared on Instagram that his father has always been a constant presence in his life. “No matter what I needed, he was there,” Spencer wrote. He fondly remembered always being able to rely on his father for a hug, a listening ear, unwavering belief, and consistent support.

Kandace Greer Grammer was born Feb. 15, 1992, to Kelsey and makeup artist Barrie Buckner.

The relationship didn’t last long. The Cheers actor married Leigh-Anne Csuhany in September, but he asked for an annulment in 1993, and it was granted.

Honestly, growing up was pretty normal for me, most of the time. But I’d always catch myself wondering… were people actually friends with me, or were they just interested in being friends with the daughter of him? It was something I thought about a lot, you know?

Greer, an actress who appeared on the 2024 revival of Frasier on Paramount+, mirrored her father’s behavior, despite his apologies for not being present enough in the past.

In a 2014 interview with Nylon, actress Ashley Rickards recalled attending tapings of the show Frasier when she was about four years old. She knew she was at her dad’s job, but didn’t understand he was an actor on television until she was in the second grade.

In a 2021 interview with Stage Buddy, Greer shared the best advice her father, also an actor, ever gave her. He consistently reminded her to pursue acting because of her passion for it, telling her to “act for the right reasons.” He also had an honest conversation with her about the challenges women face in Hollywood, urging her not to let the industry’s unfairness affect her. Greer admitted she still gets emotional when she remembers their conversation.

 

Kelsey married Camille Donatacci in 1997, and they had a daughter, Mason Grammer, on October 24, 2001, through a surrogate mother.

When Camille’s marriage ended in 2010, it became a major topic on the first season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as she was one of the show’s original stars.

Model and Emerson College graduate Mason shared in 2018 that her parents’ difficult divorce strained her relationship with Kelsey, but they’ve since worked through it and are close again.

She told Genlux that it was the most difficult period of her life, and it forced her to mature quickly. With her father largely absent and her mother struggling, she felt she had to take on a parental role for her younger brother. The situation created a lot of tension, and her parents still aren’t speaking to each other, according to Page Six.

Camille, who married David Meyer in 2018, recently had kind words for her ex, telling Page Six that he was a “really good student.” She jokingly added that he likely inherited that trait from his father, as she doesn’t always possess that level of discipline!

Kelsey and Camille welcomed son Jude Grammer on Aug. 28, 2004, also via surrogate.

Kelsey’s youngest son, Jude, is more reserved than his older sisters. However, Camille shared with Page Six in 2018 that he aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps and become an actor.

She explained that her son doesn’t enjoy having his picture taken and actively tries to avoid it. She considers it a real win whenever she manages to get a photo of him.

Just two weeks after his divorce from Camille became official, Kelsey married flight attendant Kayte Walsh on February 25, 2011.

Kelsey and Camille Grammer welcomed their daughter, Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer, on July 13, 2012. They had initially announced they were expecting twins, but sadly, their son passed away shortly after birth.

Five years later, Kelsey opened Faith American Brewery in upstate New York.

My daughter is named Faith, and that name reflects her spirit – you have to be strong and fight for what you believe in. We worked hard to welcome her into our lives as our first child, and I feel the same way about defending the ideals of America.

Kelsey Gabriel Elias Grammer was born on July 22, 2014. His father announced that he and Kayte were planning to have more children, as they already had two.

When his son Gabriel was just five weeks old, Kelsey, who is 25 years older than his wife Kayte, told People magazine that he and Kayte were already thinking about having another child. He said the experience had been so wonderful, he couldn’t imagine stopping now.

Allen Kelsey Grammer, the actor, also mentioned that he and his family plan to continue a tradition of using their sons’ middle names as their primary names.

Kelsey described feeling incredibly fulfilled and joyful being around young people. She said it filled her with hope and made her feel more alive and peaceful than ever before, and she truly loves the experience.

Kayte and Kelsey’s family grew again on Nov. 14, 2016, with the birth of son Auden James Grammer.

And the Frasier star’s older kids were all for it.

Greer shared with Entertainment Tonight, just before her brother James was born, that her dad always dreamed of having a large family. She described her parents, Kayte and her dad, as wonderful and loving parents to Faith and Gabe, their other children, and expressed her excitement for them to welcome another baby into the family.

You know, watching families evolve is one of my favorite things, and Kelsey is a perfect example! I’ve noticed he really blossoms as a dad with each new child. It’s wonderful to see. He actually grew up with a pretty strict dad himself, but he’s learned to be much more relaxed with my younger siblings, and it’s created such a fun, easygoing family dynamic – it’s just a joy to witness!

In an October 2025 appearance on the Pod Meets World podcast, Kelsey announced that he and Kayte had recently welcomed their fourth child, bringing their total number of children to eight.

The 70-year-old noted, “It was like three days ago, Christopher that’s just joined the family.”
