Although Superman and Batman won’t star in their own dedicated movies in the DC Universe or Elseworlds until 2027, fans can likely expect to see both heroes in action twice in 2026. David Corenswet has recently debuted as Superman in James Gunn’s reboot, and Robert Pattinson continues to play Batman in The Batman saga. While Man of Tomorrow and The Batman: Part II are slated for 2027, there’s a good chance Superman and Batman will appear together before then.
In 2026, fans could see multiple versions of Superman and Batman appear in animated series, but not in their own standalone films. The third season of My Adventures with Superman, featuring Jack Quaid as the voice of Superman, is anticipated to be released that year. David Corenswet is also expected to return as Superman in Supergirl, alongside Milly Alcock as Supergirl. As for Batman, he’ll be featured in two animated projects: the second season of Batman: Caped Crusader and the initial installment of a new Batman: Knightfall movie series.
What Adventures Will Superman & Batman Embark On Before They Return to the DCU?
Everyone is eagerly awaiting the first trailer for Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl movie, which will follow up on the brief appearance of Supergirl (played by Milly Alcock) in the recent Superman film. The movie is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2026. Although it hasn’t been officially announced, it’s highly probable that David Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman and appear alongside his cousin, as the film will delve into their shared Kryptonian history and family background. Meanwhile, Jack Quaid’s animated Superman will tackle the iconic The Death of Superman storyline on Cartoon Network, and fans might also get to see the first appearance of Superboy.
Fans will get plenty of Batman action in 2026, even before Robert Pattinson returns as the live-action Dark Knight in 2027. Season two of the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader will feature a fresh and unique take on the Joker. Plus, the classic 1993 comic storyline Batman: Knightfall is being turned into a multi-part animated movie, with the first installment arriving next year. This story is famous for showing Bane breaking Batman, and a new hero stepping in who damages Batman’s good name.
Fans will see new Superman and Batman movies in 2027 after several appearances leading up to it. David Corenswet’s Superman will face off against Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor and Brainiac in Man of Tomorrow, coming to theaters on July 9, 2027. Robert Pattinson will return as Batman in The Batman: Part II that October, but this film exists separately from the main DC Universe. As for the official DCU Batman, casting news hasn’t been released yet, though fans have plenty of ideas about who should play the role, likely when he first appears in The Brave and the Bold.
