Prime Video has released a first look at “Young Sherlock,” a new series directed by Guy Ritchie. The show tells the story of how Sherlock Holmes became the famous detective we know today.
We’re getting our first look at Hero Fiennes Tiffin as the main character, along with Dónal Finn as a young Moriarty, Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou’an, and Natascha McElhone as Cordelia—who is Sherlock and Mycroft’s mother.
The cast also includes Max Irons, known for his role in “Miss Austen,” playing Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft, and Colin Firth, famous from the “Bridget Jones” series, as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Created by Matthew Parkhill, the series ‘Young Sherlock’ tells the story of how Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective came to be, with a similar energetic and clever style to Guy Ritchie’s ‘Sherlock Holmes’ movies. It offers a fresh take on the character’s beginnings.

The story follows a young and troubled Sherlock Holmes as he investigates his first murder case, a case that could cost him his freedom. This initial investigation quickly reveals a worldwide conspiracy and dramatically alters the course of his life.

Set in 1870s Oxford and featuring travels overseas, this series reveals the youthful, mischievous beginnings of the future Sherlock Holmes, before he became the famous detective of Baker Street.

In addition to the actors already announced, Joseph Fiennes will also appear in the show. He’s cast as Silas, the father of Sherlock and Mycroft, and also the uncle of the character Hero.

This isn’t Ritchie’s first time directing Sherlock Holmes stories. He previously directed Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson in the films Sherlock Holmes (2009) and A Game of Shadows (2011).

This marks the director’s third large-scale series in recent years, following the creation of Netflix’s The Gentlemen and their work as an executive producer and director on episodes of MobLand.
