Okay, so this is huge news for us gamers! One of the main creative forces behind The Last of Us is about to reveal their next project later this week. Naughty Dog, the studio behind that game and Uncharted, is seriously one of the best in the business. They’ve made some great games before, but Uncharted and The Last of Us really put them on the map. Those games weren’t just fun to play, they were system sellers – meaning people bought PlayStations just to experience them! They set a new standard for storytelling in games, with amazing visuals, incredible writing, and characters you really cared about. It felt like they brought a blockbuster movie experience right into our living rooms.
Several talented individuals were instrumental in Naughty Dog’s success, notably Neil Druckmann, who started as an intern and eventually became studio head. Bruce Straley also rose through the ranks, ultimately co-directing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Druckmann then led the development of what would become Naughty Dog’s most iconic game, collaborating with Straley to make it a reality. Together, they served as game directors on The Last of Us and Uncharted 4. However, after Uncharted 4’s release, Straley decided to leave the company, feeling burnt out and uncertain about his future in gaming.
The Last Of Us Director Bruce Straley’s New Game Will Be Revealed This Week
Bruce Straley, known for games like Uncharted and The Last of Us, launched a new studio called Wildflower Interactive in 2021 and has been quietly developing a game ever since. We’ll finally get a look at it during The Game Awards. A short preview hints that this new project is quite different from his previous work. It features a bright, cheerful art style and a welcoming world, though hints of danger exist – a large creature appears to be roaming around, causing the ground to shake.

We don’t yet know what the new game is, but it appears to be an original creation, not based on an existing franchise. Considering the developer was previously unsure about continuing to make games, this news is really encouraging – it sounds like they’ve found a project that reignited their passion and inspired them to start a new studio, which is a big undertaking. We’ll find out more at The Game Awards on December 11th, but for now, we’ll have to be patient.
