After the unveiling of Vex’s background in an engaging cinematic short for Borderlands 4, Gearbox Entertainment has shared a new video explaining her powers. As a Siren, Vex can utilize Phase abilities, but uniquely, this translates to a gameplay style similar to a Necromancer, focusing on controlling minions. Take a look at lead game designer Nick Thurston and test manager Matt Herrera as they delve into all the details.
Similar to other Vault Hunters, Vex possesses three skill trees centered around three unique Action Skills: Phase Phamiliar, Incarnate, and Dead Ringer. The first, Phase Phamiliar, primarily enhances a single minion named Trouble, allowing it to teleport to enemies and boost its critical hit probability against any part of the enemy with “Keen Friends.” The second ability, Incarnate, empowers Vex by growing wings and unleashing Eldritch Blasts.
Instead, consider altering the initial Phase Explosion into a Geistwave amplified by Ordnance Damage. Additionally, Vex becomes more efficient at healing and reloading when focused on Kinetic energy. Lastly, Dead Ringer has the ability to summon either Specters that fire weapons or Reapers who provoke enemies closely.
Using the augment “Hellish Harvest,” enemies will assault a specific region thrice, simultaneously restoring your health. Simultaneously, the spectral entities have the ability to inflict ongoing damage with “Wither,” making them vulnerable to greater harm for a certain duration.
In the array of options available, there’s much more to consider even before fine-tuning your equipment setup. Borderlands 4 is set to release on September 12th, catering to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC users. Keep an eye out for additional cinematic and overview trailers showcasing the other Vault Hunters.
