After months of speculation, it seems a somewhat strange but funny story is finally wrapping up. A recent leak has confirmed that Leon Kennedy, a popular character from the Resident Evil series, will appear in Capcom’s new game, Resident Evil Requiem.

Fans recently spotted a new image for the upcoming game, Resident Evil Requiem, on the PlayStation Store (as reported by IGN). The image shows a more weathered and bearded Leon Kennedy in the background, behind the main character, Grace Ashcroft. This is amusing because Capcom hasn’t addressed questions about Leon’s role in the game since it was first announced, leading to speculation and jokes from the community.

There’s been a lot of talk for months about Leon being a playable character after Grace, but people weren’t sure how big his part would be. I’m guessing his role will be similar to Chris Redfield in Resident Evil Village – playable for a section, but clearly not the main character.

If you’re excited about Resident Evil Requiem, you’ll be able to see more at The Game Awards 2025. Capcom has confirmed they’ll be sharing a new look at their upcoming survival-horror game there.

I recently saw a demo of Resident Evil Requiem at both Summer Game Fest 2025 and Gamescom, and both my colleague and I were very impressed. It’s become one of my most anticipated games for next year, and the gameplay reveal might even feature Leon Kennedy!

Good news! Resident Evil Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026, so we won’t have to wait much longer to play it. Are you looking forward to it? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Resident Evil Requiem will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC (through the Epic Games Store and Steam), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
