Exciting news for Tomb Raider fans! Two new games are in development, promising plenty of action and adventure in the coming year. The Tomb Raider series is a classic, having shaped the action-adventure genre for decades and inspiring games like Uncharted. While it shares similarities with Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider stands out with its fast-paced action and iconic female lead, Lara Croft. Previous movie adaptations haven’t quite captured the magic, but there’s a feeling that the future looks bright for the franchise.
Recent reports suggest the next Tomb Raider game could connect with the upcoming Amazon TV series starring Sophie Turner. While the details are still unknown, this hints at exciting plans for the future of Lara Croft. It seems the creators aren’t just stopping at a TV show and a game – they’re taking a big risk with the Tomb Raider franchise, which will likely thrill fans.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Announced
At The Game Awards, two new Tomb Raider games were announced. Details about one of them, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, were accidentally released online before the show. This game, set to launch in 2026, will be a complete reimagining of the original 1996 Tomb Raider, updated with modern graphics and gameplay. It’s a full remake, not just a remaster with minor improvements.
But that wasn’t all! A brand new main Tomb Raider game, called Tomb Raider: Catalyst, is also in development and expected to release in 2027. Some long-standing rumors about the game were confirmed too – it will be set in India. While we’ll probably have to wait for more details, as the focus is currently on Legacy of Atlantis, Tomb Raider fans have a lot to look forward to in the years ahead.
Being a Tomb Raider fan is great right now, with new games and a TV show on the way. Hopefully, everything comes together successfully, because it could really bring this classic gaming series back to life.
