All 26 Characters Who Fought Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc

Everything that happened in Jujutsu Kaisen—from Yuji Itadori consuming Sukuna’s first finger to the events in Shibuya and the Culling Game—ultimately led to the inevitable showdown between Gojo and his allies against Sukuna. This massive battle was the height of Jujutsu Sorcery, a fight to decide the fate of the world. The Shinjuku Showdown pushed every remaining sorcerer—no matter their power, background, or past—to face the King of Curses. It was a desperate and extended conflict unlike anything seen before, featuring the world’s strongest sorcerers directly battling Sukuna, strategists providing vital assistance, and even wounded allies returning to fight when things looked bleakest.

The sorcerers knew their battle in Shinjuku was a last stand. Winning would save everyone, but losing meant death for them and a lasting curse on all of humankind.

26) Yoshinobu Gakuganji

Gakuganji, a senior figure in the jujutsu world and head of Kyoto Jujutsu High, didn’t fight directly, but used his decades of experience to prepare for battle. He worked closely with Utahime Iori, offering his knowledge and influence to create the complex ritual designed to strengthen Satoru Gojo’s abilities. This demonstrated that even traditionally strict and often opposing members of the jujutsu community were prepared to take any risk for a final chance at winning.

25) Angel/Hana Kurusu

Hana Kurusu, who housed the ancient sorcerer Angel, possessed a uniquely powerful ability called Jacob’s Ladder. This technique was crucial leading up to the Shinjuku Showdown because it was the only one known that could completely cancel out cursed techniques and objects. Hana tried to use Jacob’s Ladder to remove Sukuna from Megumi Fushiguro’s body, but Sukuna stopped her. Because of her ability to nullify curses, Hana was central to the plan to defeat Sukuna by saving Megumi from being his vessel.

24) Kirara Hoshi

During the battle in Shinjuku, Kirara wasn’t focused on direct attacks. Instead, they provided support from the edges of the fight. Their technique, Love Rendezvous, created a defensive zone, helping their teammates by controlling the flow of battle and creating strategic advantages. This ability to subtly influence the battlefield’s energy made Kirara a valuable tactician in the large-scale chaos of Shinjuku.

23) Kiyotaka Ichiji

I watched as Ichiji, though not a top-tier sorcerer—he mostly focused on support and assisting others—really set the stage for the battle. Before the fighting even started, he used his barrier techniques to create a secure communication network and establish defensive lines around where the main conflict would take place. These barriers weren’t just for defense, though. They cleverly hid a safe space for Shoko Ieiri to work on healing, and provided extra protection for our fighters on the front lines.

22) Utahime Iori

For the entire series, Utahime’s powers were a secret. But at the start of the fight, we learn what she can do. Her Cursed Technique, called Solo Forbidden Area, lets her boost another sorcerer’s abilities through a special song and dance. She teamed up with Gakuganji to perform this complicated ritual, making Satoru Gojo’s already incredible technique even stronger right before his fight with Sukuna. She even gave up her own energy, which was essential for Gojo to use Purple Hollow at its maximum power.

21) Choso

Choso, the oldest of the Death Painting Wombs, fought fiercely to protect his brother, Yuji. His powerful ability to control blood made him a formidable opponent to Sukuna and provided strong defense. Ultimately, Choso made the ultimate sacrifice, giving his life to save Yuji from a deadly attack. His tragic death deeply affected Yuji and highlighted the intense emotional and physical dangers of their battle.

20) Kamo Noritoshi

I watched as Kamo, who’s really talented with Blood Manipulation and comes from one of the three most powerful families, joined the team and shared his clan’s unique abilities. During the big fight, he wasn’t so much a direct attacker as a teacher, patiently explaining the complexities of Blood Manipulation to Yuji. It was incredibly helpful – Kamo really broadened Yuji’s skillset, giving him more options to use against Sukuna and making sure one of our key fighters was as ready as he could be.

19) Ino Takuma

Fueled by the memory of his mentor, Kento Nanami, Ino charged into battle with fresh determination. He wielded Nanami’s distinctive cleaver, a weapon that gave him a significant advantage in close combat. His arrival wasn’t just a powerful show of force, but a reminder to his allies of those they’d lost to Sukuna, lifting their spirits and bolstering their fight.

18) Toge Inumaki

Inumaki, a skilled fighter with the unique ability to control others with his words, came back to the fight after being seriously injured in Shibuya. He uses his Cursed Speech to disrupt opponents, and even tried to stop Sukuna by freezing him, but Sukuna was simply too powerful.

17) Kasumi Miwa

Throughout the series, Miwa struggles with self-doubt, constantly referring to herself as “Useless Miwa.” But during the climactic battle, she proved everyone wrong, emerging as one of the most courageous and vital players. Without hesitation, Miwa bravely used her Simple Domain to shield Maki from a deadly attack when Sukuna briefly targeted her. Despite the surrounding chaos, Miwa held strong, keeping her domain active and ultimately saving Maki’s life, demonstrating that she was anything but useless.

16) Momo Nishimiya

Momo helped from the air using her special ability to fly on a broom. She mainly watched for threats and quickly helped evacuate any sorcerers who were hurt. Being able to move easily and see everything from above made her incredibly valuable for gathering information and getting injured fighters to safety.

14) Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi found himself caught in the middle of the conflict, chosen as a host for Sukuna. Sukuna’s power and control left Megumi feeling hopeless and defeated. While the main goal of the fight was to defeat Sukuna, Yuji also desperately tried to help Megumi overcome Sukuna’s influence and find the strength to fight for himself, making this a crucial part of the battle.

14) Kinji Hakari

Okay, so watching Hakari go up against Uraume was intense! This guy’s a Grade-1 sorcerer, seriously powerful – almost on the level of the big bad Special Grades. And his mission? To stop Uraume, Sukuna’s main helper who controls ice. It was so important because keeping Uraume busy meant they couldn’t support Sukuna during the main battle. Honestly, Hakari’s Domain Expansion, Idle Death Gamble, is just wild – it’s so unpredictable and makes him incredibly hard to defeat. He really just locked down Sukuna’s most dangerous ally, pulling them completely away from the fight. It was a total game-changer!

13) Miguel Oduol

Miguel, a powerful sorcerer with a complicated past involving Gojo, returned to Japan to help fight Sukuna. He used a technique called Prayer Song, which dramatically increased his strength, allowing him to directly fight Sukuna. This kept Sukuna distracted and created openings for Yuji to launch unexpected attacks.

12) Atsuya Kusakabe

Kusakabe was widely considered one of the most powerful first-grade sorcerers, even though he preferred not to fight. During the battle in Shinjuku, he bravely defended against Sukuna’s constant attacks, using his unique technique, the Simple Domain, and incredible swordsmanship. He was a strong leader, skillfully holding back Sukuna to keep his allies safe.

11) Shoko Ieiri

Shoko was essential to the success of all the fighters. Working from a secret and safe place, she was the only one capable of performing large-scale healing using Reverse Cursed Technique, saving many seriously wounded sorcerers – even those close to dying. She healed everyone brought to her by Mei Mei’s brother, Ui Ui, and her medical skills were the primary reason so many important fighters made it through the battles.

10) Ui Ui

Ui Ui was a remarkably brave and vital support player during the fighting. He used a special, previously unseen technique to instantly move injured sorcerers away from danger and to Shoko for medical attention. Acting as a one-person rescue team, Ui Ui kept the battle going, saving many lives and quickly getting healed sorcerers back into the fight against Sukuna.

9) Mei Mei

Mei Mei’s Cursed Technique allowed her to control a swarm of crows filled with Cursed Energy. Similar to Momo, she mainly provided support by gathering information. She used the crows as her eyes, tracking Sukuna’s location and energy levels. This gave her team up-to-the-minute updates on his condition, which was crucial for coordinating their attacks against him and keeping the sorcerers rotating effectively.

8) Hiromi Higuruma

Higuruma, a former legal expert who became a strong sorcerer, was among the first to fight Sukuna after Gojo’s death. His special technique, Deadly Sentencing, could take away an opponent’s cursed abilities or tools. He cleverly managed to take a powerful electric dagger, Kamutoke, from Sukuna. Crucially, Higuruma also hit Sukuna with his incredibly strong sword, the Executioner’s Sword, which weakened Sukuna enough to help reach Megumi’s spirit.

7) Hajime Kashimo

Kashimo, a powerful and experienced sorcerer known for his lightning abilities, jumped into the battle right after Gojo’s defeat. He was determined to challenge the strongest opponent, which at that moment was Sukuna. He used his unique and incredibly powerful Cursed Technique, Genjuu Kohaku, giving him a massive boost in strength and energy. Although he didn’t survive the fight, Kashimo pushed Sukuna to demonstrate more of his true power and provided valuable insights for the sorcerers still fighting.

6) Nobara Kugisaki

You will NOT believe this, but Nobara just woke up from her coma after the Shibuya Incident! And get this – she immediately jumped back into the fight! She used her Resonance technique on one of those hidden Sukuna fingers Gojo stashed away. The surge of cursed energy was insane, it actually threw Sukuna off balance for a split second. That tiny opening was exactly what Yuji needed to finally land a hit – it was incredible!

5) Aoi Todo

Todo rejoined the fight, remarkably recovering from losing his hand and being unable to use his Cursed Technique, Boogie Woogie. Despite these limitations, he relied on his brilliant tactical mind and powerful strength to help Yuji. He cleverly found ways to use Boogie Woogie to protect his friends and assist Yuji, ultimately becoming the strategic leader and central support for Yuji’s final attack.

4) Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta, a powerful sorcerer who learned how to transfer his soul into other bodies, was prepared to take over if Gojo, the strongest sorcerer, fell in battle. He watched Gojo fight Sukuna with intense worry, understanding the immense burden he’d face if Gojo died. Yuta joined the fight, using his unique Domain Expansion, and in a surprising turn of events, managed to inhabit Gojo’s body, turning Gojo’s own power against Sukuna.

3) Maki Zenin

Without any Cursed Energy, Maki’s unique abilities turned her into a powerful and lethal fighter. Using her special katana, she was able to overcome Sukuna’s defenses and directly attack his soul. In an incredible series of attacks, she managed to pierce one of Sukuna’s hearts and cut off one of his arms – two of the most damaging physical injuries he sustained throughout the battle. She fought with the same speed and ferocity as Sukuna in close combat, achieving all of this without using any Cursed Energy or special techniques.

2) Yuji Itadori

Yuji faced the battle determined to defeat Sukuna, a goal he’d set for himself ever since discovering he was Sukuna’s vessel. His dedication, strength, and intense training allowed him to unlock a powerful new ability – his Domain Expansion – giving him a crucial advantage. After his friends created a brief opportunity, Yuji delivered the final blow, fulfilling his promise to destroy the Curse and end the devastation it had caused.

1) Satoru Gojo

Standing alone at the edge of a cliff, Gojo was considered the most powerful sorcerer of his time. He was the first to directly confront Sukuna in an epic battle, utilizing his unique abilities – Limitless and the devastating technique, Unlimited Void. Their fight was a massive clash that completely destroyed a large part of Shinjuku. Gojo pushed Sukuna harder than anyone ever had, forcing him to use every trick he knew. This paved the way for other sorcerers to try and defeat Sukuna, continuing the fight Gojo began.
