Shin Yoshida is writing the scripts, Akira Okuma is designing the characters, and Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu are composing the music. This announcement fulfills a long-held wish among fans who have been hoping for an official anime adaptation of Psyren.
The voice actors for the upcoming anime have been announced: Rikuya Yasuda will play Ageha Yoshina, and Mayuko Kazama will voice Sakurako Amamiya. Series creator Toshiaki Iwashiro expressed his excitement, sharing that he’s thrilled to finally announce the anime after waiting for this moment for around 15 years – something he wasn’t able to share with his family before. Iwashiro shared that many young editors and anime staff told him they were huge fans of PSYREN as teenagers. He expressed immense gratitude and excitement that these same people, now working on the new anime adaptation, are bringing his story to life. He hopes the anime captures the original’s energy and thrill for a new audience. Iwashiro also confirmed he contributed to the anime’s scripts and is looking forward to seeing the characters, including Ageha, animated and brought to life on screen.
Rikiya Yasuda was thrilled to learn he’d been cast, sharing that he actually shouted with joy when he got the news at home! He’s been excited to be part of the PSYREN anime ever since and can’t wait for everyone to see it. He added that, after a 15-year hiatus, PSYREN is making a comeback, and he’s eager to join Ageha on an incredible adventure in this psychic world!
