Allison Holker Pens Tribute To tWitch On Anniversary Of His Death, With Loni Love And More Sharing Support In The Comments

It’s been three years since the tragic passing of Stephen Boss, known to many as “tWitch.” Though it’s still difficult to accept his loss at age 40, he continues to be remembered fondly. His wife, Allison Holker, recently honored him by sharing beloved dance videos and family photos, and received an outpouring of support in the comments, including from Loni Love.

Stephen “tWitch” Boss died by suicide on December 13, 2022, but his legacy lies in what he contributed to the world as a father and with his love for dance. So it’s appropriate that those things were the center of Holker’s post that marked the tough milestone. The former Dancing with the Stars pro shared on Instagram:

It’s incredibly sad that tWitch is no longer with us, but whenever I think of him, I can’t help but smile remembering his infectious energy. He clearly adored his family, and it always warmed my heart to see photos of him with Allison Holker and their children, Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.

Stephen Boss was a finalist on Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance, finishing in second place. He continued to be involved with the show, returning as a popular All-Star and in various roles over the years. Most recently, he served as a judge on Season 17, which aired shortly before his passing.

It’s been so heartbreaking seeing the news about tWitch. I, like so many others, went straight to Allison’s post to share my love and remember him. The comments are filled with so many beautiful memories from fans and friends…

I think a lot of people, when they heard about Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’s passing, immediately remembered him as Ellen DeGeneres’ right-hand man on her talk show. He was such a vibrant presence, playing music and dancing with her from 2014 right up until the show ended in 2022. Ellen has always been so open about how much she cared for him, and it’s truly heartbreaking to see her grieving.

Ellen DeGeneres posted a heartfelt tribute in the days after his suicide and later planted a tree in his memory at her campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Rwanda. On the third anniversary of his passing, she shared an update of the “beautiful life it nourishes every day”:

It’s still so hard to believe Stephen Boss is gone. Even though it’s been three years, I keep thinking about his family and imagining how difficult this anniversary must be. He brought so much joy to so many people, and it’s heartbreaking to think about the private battles he might have been fighting. My heart really goes out to everyone affected by his loss.
