Some video games are quickly forgotten, while others remain popular for years. The world of massively multiplayer online role-playing games, or MMORPGs, is full of both new releases and established titles with loyal fans. These games frequently receive large updates to stay current, but many players also enjoy revisiting older versions. Soon, MapleStory fans will have that option with the release of MapleStory Classic World in 2026, and a select few will get to play it even sooner.
As a long-time MapleStory fan, I was so excited when they announced MapleStory Classic World back in April! They’re planning to release it around 2026, and the idea is that we’ll get to revisit the original MapleStory we all fell in love with, but with some updated features. What’s really cool is that Classic World will actually be inside the current game! Nexon just announced that a lucky group of fans will get to try it out soon, which is awesome news! I can’t wait to jump back into the game as it was in 2003!
MapleStory Classic World Announces Monthlong Hands-On Preview Event for Dedicated Fans
Nexon America has announced a special preview event for Global MapleStory Classic World! From January 14th to February 13th, players can try out the game before it officially launches. Attendees will get a pre-made character and two hours to explore Victoria Island and experience exclusive content from Classic World. For longtime fans, it’s a chance to revisit the original 2003 MapleStory with updated graphics and a more modern interface. And for new players, it’s a first look at the classic MapleStory experience!
The Class World preview event will be held in person in Gardena, California. To make sure the event is filled with dedicated players, only MapleStory accounts that are at least 60 days old will be eligible to participate. You’ll need to sign up for a specific time slot to attend, and registration is open now until February 12th. While the event is free, you must register for a timeslot to be admitted.
Attendees of this preview will be some of the very first MapleStory fans to experience the new Classic World. This updated version of the original MapleStory is planned for Early Access release around 2026, though the specific date is still being finalized.
Global MapleStory is a free-to-play game for PC, available through the official Nexon Launcher or Steam. Players can also make optional purchases within the game. A “Classic World” will be added to MapleStory as a separate way to play.
